lowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to a new and soldering-pad and clamp.

The object of my invention is to provide a pad that shall be more particularly adapted to the use of jewelers in the mending and repair of spectacle-frames and Watch-bezels.

novel In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows a top View of a soldering-pad embodying my invention. Fig. 2 shows a sectional view thereof, while Fig. 3 shows a bottom view of one of the clamp-holders.

The aim more particularly of my invention is to provide a neat, simple, and inexpensive pad which is nicely adapted to removably receive and hold any form of spectacle or eyeglass frame, as Well as any sized watch-bezel. The pad comprises a fireproof section A, of material such as asbestos or an asbestos compound, which is provided centrally with a depression 1), within which the bridge a of the spectacle-frame is adapted to lie, it being understood that the bridgeor nose portion a of the spectacles extends at an angle to the plane of the eyeglass-framese. Secured to this pad A at four points are the pins 0, which pass through the pad, and which pins below are provided with a neck 0', adapted to work into the slot 4 of one of the clamp-holders 5, so that these pins 0 are removably held within the pad. Secured to these pins 0 are the spring=c1amps B, which are provided with a series of openings 7, so that the clamps may be given any adjustment, so that a bezel of the smallest or largest size as ordinarily constructed may be readily held upon the pad in being soldered or mended.

Between the pad A and the spring-clamps B is an ordinary washer 2, so that this clamp may be readily revolved in being positioned.

In Fig. 1, for instance, it is assumed that the spectacle-frame is broken at the two points marked a: and is being held in position ready to be soldered.

The device is cheap and inexpensive and perfectly adapted to the use for which it is intended. p

Having thus described my said invention, what I claim as new, anddesire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is-

1. In a soldering-pad,- the combination with a plurality of spring-clamps, of a series of openings within said clamps, a plurality of pins working within said clamps and passing through said pad, and holders adapted to engage said pins to adjustably and removably secure said clamps to said pad.

2. A fireproof pad provided with a central depression, I), the pins, 0, passing through said pad and being provided with a suitable neck, .0, the spring-clamp, B, secured to said pins, said clamp being provided with the openings, 7, the depressions, 3, 3, within said pad, and the clamp-holders, 5, adapted to secure said pins, 0, as and for the purpose set forth.
