Be it known that I, SARAH A. HAZLEWOOD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lexington, in the county of Rockbridge and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Domestic Ovens; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in auxiliary ovens for cooking-stoves, the object of the same being to provide an oven ofthis character which can be applied to any stove and in which articles of food can be kept warm, the particular construction and arrangement permit-ting the temperature within the auxiliary oven to be easily regulated.

Vith the above objects in view my invention consists in the particular construction of the oven and manner of supporting same, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of an auxiliary oven constructed in accordance with my invention, the door being open. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the oven.

My improved oven is made up of a bottom 1, front and back 2 2, and sides 3 and 4, the side 3 being provided with an opening, forming a doorway which gives access to the interior of the oven. by a door 4E,which is hinged to one side thereof and is provided at its opposite end with an extension a, forming a handle, and having a slot which engages the staple 5, attached to the adjoining part of the oven. The forward walls of the oven are inclined rearwardly to the sides, as shown, and the forward ends of the front and back shaped to correspond. Extending vertically through the oven, on a line with the forward ends of the front and back, is apipe 7, which forms a section of the smoke-pipe of the cooking-stove when this auxiliary oven is applied.

In the bottom of the oven, below the pipe 7 and to one side of the same, is formed an opening 8,which is covered by a slide or damper, the said opening being located at the forward part of the oven.

This doorway is covered This oven is provided with one or more shelves 9, which are preferably constructed of sheet metal, the ends being turned down to provide the supporting-legs, the horizontal portion having openings to allow for a free circulation of air. The bottom of the oven is provided externally with straps 10 for attaching thereto rods 11 11, the forward ends of which are turned downward, as shown, to engage the stove. These rods extend a suit able distance beyond the opposite end of the oven and engage apertures therefor in a block 12, attached to an adjoining wall or other support.

The body of my improved oven is preferably made up of sheet metal, the joints being made in the usual manner.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that an oven constructed in accordance with my invention presents a very effective contrivance for keeping articles of food warm, and the temperature of the said oven can be readily regulated by manipulating the damper which covers the opening Sin the bottom. The pipe 7, forming a part of the smoke-pipe, furnishes most of the heat, and by locating this pipe verticallyand adjoining the inclined front walls the heat will be directed toward the body of the oven upon the articles contained therein. If desired, the door can be secured by a padlock, but ordinarily a pin will be used for the purpose.

By the particular configuration of the forward end of the oven which extends in front of the smoke pipe or flue the rearwardly-slanting walls do not interfere to any extent with the cooking utensils which are placed upon the stove. It will also be understood that instead of bending the wires feet could be soldered to the forward end of the oven, and the ends of the wires which enter the block are held in engagement by set-screws.

Having thus described my invention,what I claim as new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is- I 1. An auxiliary oven for stoves, comprising a body, straps secured to the body and rods extending through said straps, the forward ends of said rods being bent downwardly and the rear ends thereof adapted to be secured to a stationary part adjacent to the stove upon "which the oven is located.
