ROBERT ARTHUR LAKE, OF DANBURY, CONNECTICUT.
NURSING-BOTTLE HOLDER;
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent N0. 602,991, dated April 26, 1898.
A li ti fil d March 10, 1897. Serial No. 626,766. No model.)
To ctZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT ARTHUR LAKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Danbury, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nursing-Bottle I-Iolders; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to baby-chair attachments, and more particularly to nursingbottle holders.
My object is to provide a holder of extremely simple and cheap construction which can be readily attached to the table or tray of a baby-chair and will secure the nursingbottle in proper position, being adapted for any desired adjustment and thereby preventing the same from being misplaced or broken.
Having the foregoing objects in view, the invention consists of a device of the class described comprising certain improved features and novel combinations of parts appearing more fully hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the device in use; Fig. 2, a front end view; Fig. 3, alongitudinal section. Fig. i is a plan view of the tray detached from the box.-
The numeral 1 designates the tray or table of a baby-chair. The body of my improved holder is shown at 2, the same being open at the top and provided with a hinged cover 2. Its outer end 8 is flat, but its inner end or that part which lies nearest the child is rounded at 4 and provided with an elongated vertically-extended slot 5, which is made with a circular enlargement 6 at its upper end.
The numerals 7 designate two straps which pass through the box or holder longitudinally thereof and immediately above its bottom, and they are provided with buckles, so that they can be passed around the table or tray of the chair, so that the device can be tightly secured.
The numeral 8 designates a tray which fits within the box or holder, being of the same shape as the latter, but of somewhat greater length, and it is provided with a finger-hole 9. At the rounded end of the tray there are prongs 10. The tray is located inside the holderin inclined relation thereto, the straight end of the tray being situated near the top of the holder and the rounded end provided with teeth or prongs and being located lower down, according to the height at which the bottle is to be held, the prongs engaging with the box and securing the tray.
The nursing-bottle is shown at 11, and the same rests on the tray inside the holder, with its neck located in the slot. The said bottle by its weight serves to keep the prongs or teeth engaged with the holder and retain the tray at the proper height. The enlarged portion of the slot, at the upper end thereof, is to initially receive the nipple of the bottle, so that the neck thereof can be introduced into the slot.
The device can be readily adjusted by inserting the finger in the opening 9 of the tray and causing the rear straight end of the same to assume a more nearly perpendicular po sition, whereupon the prongs can be disengaged. After the tray has been brought to the proper position when the bottle is placed thereon it will again wedge itself in the holder.
The invention is extremely simple and cheap and can be applied to any baby-chair having a tray or table, while the nursing-bottle is always in the proper position and cannot become mislaid or broken.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a device of the class described, the combination with a holder, of a tray located therein which is of greater length than the holder, said tray being provided with teeth at one end which are adapted to engage with the holder, and its other end being adapted to.
wedge against said holder, whereby to maintain the tray in inclined position.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination with a holder having an elongated slot through its side, of an adjustable tray located in the holder, and means for securing the tray at any point within the same, said tray being adapted to support the nursing-bottle inside of the holder and the slot to receive the neck of said bottle.
3. In a device of the class described, the
e i r 602,991
1 0 whereby said tray is rendered adjustable and adapted to maintain itself in inclined position.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ROBERT ARTHUR LAKE.
