SPECIFICATION forming' part of Letters Patent No. 589,849, dated September 14, 1897.

Be it known that l, PETER MOBRTDE, a eitizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash Locks or Fasteners; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to sash locks or fasteners.

Hy object is to provide a sash lock and fastener of simple and improved construction which can be quickly and easily manipulated to lock the sash firmly in position at any point 'or which maybe released to allow the sash to be moved, as desirable.

Having this object in view the invention `L consists of a sash-fasten er comprisingcertain new features and novel combinations, appearing more fullyhereinafter and recited in the claim.

The numeral l designates a window frame -or casing, and 2 is a sash movable therein.

The weight of the sash assists in holding` it locked. By moving the free end of the lever upwardly the locking-plate is drawn downward, moving the roller dow-n again, so that it lits in the depressed portions of the cnt-away edges of the two plates, and the locking-plate is then released and the sash can be moved to desired position.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secu re by Letters Patent, is

ln a sash-fastener, the combination with a sash, and a window-frame, of a plate having an inclined surface and connected to the sash, a locking-plate adapted to bind on the frame and which is provided with an inclined surface, a roller bearing on the two inclined surfaces, and a lever pivoted to thesash and operatively connected to the locking-plate.
