SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 586,157, dated J' uly 13, 189'?.
Application iiled January 27, 1897. Serial No. 620,848. (No model.)
To If/ZZ whom t may concern,.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM RAPHAEL BOISVERT, a citizen of the Dominion of,CaI1- ada, residing at Levis, in the countyof Levis, Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rulers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as Will enable others skilled in the art to Which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to rulers; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a side View of the ruler. Fig. 2 is a front view of the ruler, Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through the ruler. Fig. 4 is a plan View of the ruler.
A is an inclosing case, and B is a marking- Wheel provided With a shaft b, Which is journaled in the case. The Wheel B is provided With marking-fianges b.
C is a ap connected at oneend to the case by hinges c, and c is a spring-catch secured to the case and engaging with the other'end of the flap C.
D is an inking-pad, of felt or other approved absorbent material, which is secured to the iiap C and pressed thereby against the flanges h.
When the wheel B is rolled over alat surface, it marks lines e thereon, as shown in Fig. 4C.
What I claim is- In a ruler, the combination, With a case, and a marking-Wheel journaled therein and provided with flanges of a flap hinged at one end to the case, a spring-catch connecting the other end of the said flap to the case, and an inking-pad secured to the said flap and pressed thereby against the said anges,substantially as set forth.
