SPECIFICATION forming* part Of Letters Patent N0, 583,400, dated. May 25, 1897- Applieation iiled November 28, 1896. Serial No. 613,802. (No modell) To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that LEDWIN BLAIN MELCIIOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. p

My invention has relation to improvements in the construction of non-rellable bottles; and the object is t provide'a bottle of this class that will be useless for commercial purposes after it has been originally filled; and the novelty consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the same, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawing the same reference-numerals indicate the same parts of the invention.

The ligure in the drawing is a vertical section of my improved non-Ieiillable bottle.

l represents the bottle, the neck of which is formed with an externally-screw-threaded collar 2, above which is an annular flange 3, and above said flange is a similar, though smaller, externally-screw-threaded collar et, which terminates in a plane surface 5, in the center of which is the mouth of the bottle and which receives the usual cork G.

The bottle is filled in the usual manner, the cork 6 inserted, and a fragile or friable cap '7, having its screw-threaded neck 8 suitably coated with cement, screwed on the collar il. This glass cap 7 has the packers name, monogram, or trade-mark blown in its convex top, and it is formed with an annular recess 9, which is the point of fracture when the cap is detached to remove the cork.

10 represents a spun-metal cover, the screwthreaded mouth of which engages the threaded collar 2 to protect the fragile cap 7 while the goods are in stock.

Although l have specifically described the construction and relative arrangement of the several elements of my invention, I do not desire to be confined to the same, as such changes or modifications may be made as clearly fall within the scope of my invention Without departing from the spirit thereof.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, Is-

Abottle formed with an internally-tapering mouth, an externally-threaded vertical collar 2, a horizontal liange or shoulder 3, and a concentric externally-threaded vertical collar 4, in combination with the removable cork stopper 6, the fragilecap having recess 9, and the removable metallic cover 10, substantially as shown and described. l
