ATTACHMENT FOR PEN STOCKS OR HOLDERS.

Be it known that ILFREDERICK CHARLES CUCKsON,'a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Duane, in the county of Franklin and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements'in Attachments for Pen Stocks or Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to attachments for penholders or pen-stocks; and the object thereof is to provide a device of this class which is adapted to protect the fingers when writing and to prevent the same from coming in contact with the ink, a further object being to provide a yielding device of this class which is adjustable. upon the holder or stock and by means of which the pen maybe more easily held.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which-- Figure l is a side view of a pen stock or holder provided with my improved attachment, the attachment being shown in section; Fig. 2, a side view of the attachment detached from the holder, and Fig. 3 an end view thereof.

In the drawings forming part of this specification, A represents a pen stock or holder, and B a pen which is adapted to be connected therewith in the. usual manner, and in the practiceof my invention I provide an attachment consisting of a tubular sleeve D, which may be composed of metal, rubber, or any desired material and which is adapted to be mounted on the pen stock or holder, as shown in Fig. 1.

The sleeve D is provided at its outer end with inwardly-directed spring-arms d, which are adapted to bear upon the pen stock or holder, and at its outer end with outwardly and inwardly directed spring-arms (1 which are also adapted to bear upon the pen stock or holder, and said sleeve or attachment is held upon the stock or holder by friction and may be moved back and forth thereon or adj usted to any desired point.

It will be apparent that ink cannot pass over the outer end of the sleeve or attachment D, and by reason of this fact no ink can come in contact with the outer surface of said sleeve or attachment, and it will therefore be seen that the danger of inking the fingers is avoided. It will also be apparent that the pen may be more easily held when the pen stock or holder is provided with my improved attachment, and it will thus be seen that I accomplish the object of my invention by means of a device which is simple in construction and operation and which is also comparatively inexpensive.

I-Iaving fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An attachment for pen'stocks or holders comprising a tubular sleeve having rearward and inwardly directed spring-arms at one end and rearward and inwardly directed spring-arms at the other, said spring-arms at each end being adapted to bear upon the pen stock or holder, substantially as shown and described.
