Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
A. DOBROWSKY, OF SHASTA, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT lN'TATTiNG-SHUTTLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 55,254, dated June 5, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH DOBROWSKY, ot Shasta, county of Shasta, State-of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Batting-Shuttles, called Dobrowskys Improved Taming-Shuttle, and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of' the construction and operation ci' the same, reference being had to the drawings which accompany this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective View of my improved shuttle; Fig. 2, a side view; Fig. 3, an edge view.
The nature of my invention consists in con structing a shuttle with a pin passing through it longitudinally, having a point at one or both ends. The use ot' the pin is to-enable the tat ter to readily form the loops necessary in inaking sloped, clover-leaf, or other fancy tatting Without being subject to the delay and inconvenience of using for that purpose a pin or needle detached from the shuttle, as is the mode in common use.
To enable others skilled in the art to make 4 and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction.
In the drawings, B is the body of the shuttle, composed of metal or other material, upon which the thread is wound. A A are the sides of the shuttle, made of shell or other material, and tirinly fixed to the body B by pins passing through it and the sides. A pin, C, passes through the shuttle longitudinally, and is also fastened to the shuttle by the small pins passing` through it. This pin may be pointed at one or both ends, as the case may be. I prefer to have only one of the ends pointed.
Having thus described my improved tattingshuttle so as to enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same without further invention or experiment, I will now proceed to state what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
I claim- As a new article of manufacture, a tattingshuttle composed of two sides, A A, centerpiece B, and pin G, extending beyond the sides A A at one or both ends, as shown and described.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of October, A. D. 1865.
A. DoBRowsKY. iL. s]
