SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 551,939, dated December 24, 1895.

Be it known that I, JOHN C. \VEBER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Invalid \Varming Appliances to be used for the purpose of securing additional heat to restore and maintain the natural required temperature to the human body in case of sickness or lack of vitality, and it is a matter of general experience that during the extraordinary and prolonged cold weather the general effect has been to exhaust or debilitate the natural vigor of many among all classes and professions, and it is very impor tant and necessary to health and comfort that the natural degree of warmth may be effectually and immediately restored after cold exposure to counteract the effect of chills and its accompanying evils, of which the following is a specification.

The object of the invention is to provide an economical device that may be effectively applied and without delay in several forms suitable for use in bed or otherwise.

The device is composed of soft flexible durable material that is not liable to get out of order, and is always ready for immediate use in any of the forms required, and for the purpose for which it is designed it has been found to be very desirable and useful. It is made by preference of india-rubber or any light waterproof material and formed in one piece, and hollow as a bag. Its interior may be provided with raised lugs or ribs to maintain a cavity under pressure. It is constructed with two angular wings, one of which is made smaller than the other. I provide screw valveplugs to admit and discharge hot air or liquid.

When opened and used as a pillow or bag its shape conforms to the body and can be applied anywhere, and when one part is folded within the other it thus forms a perfect stocking or shoe for the reception of the foot. The device is made of large size, and when not used it is collapsed and folded up, requiring but little space.
