Hemodynamic evaluation may be conducted as in Example 1, using duplex ultrasonography, or it may be carried out using other techniques, e.g., NMR, angiography, or the like.
- Example 1 The procedure of Example 1 is repeated, except that the device of FIG. 9 is replaced with a simple shaft coated with alprostadil (10 ⁇ g). Substantially the same result will be obtained, i.e., the diagnostic method involving transurethral administration of drug followed by hemodynamic evaluation will be at least as effective as the diagnostic method which involves intracavernosal injection, without the associated pain and discomfort. Hemodynamic evaluation may be conducted as in Example 1, using duplex ultrasonography, or it may be carried out using other techniques, e.g., NMR, angiography, or the like.
- Example 1 The procedure of Example 1 is repeated, except that the device of FIG. 9 is replaced with a pellet comprising a polyethylene glycol/alprostadil melt. Substantially the same result will be obtained, i.e., the diagnostic method involving transurethral administration of drug followed by hemodynamic evaluation will be at least as effective as the diagnostic method which involves intracavernosal injection, without the associated pain and discomfort. Hemodynamic evaluation may be conducted as in Example 1, using duplex ultrasonography, or it may be carried out using other techniques, e.g., NMR, angiography, or the like.
