PATENT FFIQEQ HONORE DE LA PATURETTE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVED MEDICAL COMPOUND,
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 54,304, dated May 1, 1866.
To all whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, HoNoRE DE LA PATU- BETTE, of the city and county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Medical Compound; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use same.
This invention relates to amedical compound which is intended particularly as a preventive for cholera, yellow fever, and similar epidemic diseases, and which may be properly termed purificator.
My compound consists of a mixture of J amaica rum, phenic acid, oil of cinnamon, oil of camphor, sugar-sirup, alcohol, and distilled water; and these ingredients are mixed together in about the following proportion: J amaica rum, three-fourths of a gallon phenic acid, ten grains; oil of cinnamon, five grains; oil of camphor, five grains; sugar-sirup, four ounces; alcohol, (85%,) two ounces; distilled water, twenty ounces.
The operation of mixing these ingredients together is effected simply by putting them together into a jar and agitating the whole for a short time. When mixed the compound is ready for immediate use.
My purifieator is intended more particularly forthe purpose of fortit'ying the system against attacks of cholera, yellow fever, and other epidemic diseases, and it may be taken daily every morning and cvening in suitable quantities, with good effect.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Amedical compound made of theingredients hereinbefore specified.
