To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JULIUS BOHRMANN, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing in the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Holding Sweat-Bands for Hats, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in sweat-bands for bats; and the object of my invention is to provide a hat sweat-band that is provided with a receptacle or holder for railway, ferry, bridge tickets, &c., which holder is so constructed that the ticket is held firmly and securely and cannot be lost and at the same time permits of readily inserting or removing the ticket.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view from the bottom, of a hat provided with my improved ticket-holder on the sweat-band. Fig. 2 is'a detail elevation of the ticket-holder part of the sweatband. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse sectional View, on the line 3 3, of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view, on the line 4 4, of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is an elevation of part of the sweatband, showing a modified construction of the ticket-holding pocket, and Fig. 6 is a vertical transverse sectional view, on the line 6 6, Fig. 1.

The hat A is provided with the usual sweatband B. Said sweat-band is provided with two upward extensions 0 O on the upper edge, which extensions are made integral with the sweat-band, and between said projections a recess C is formed. To the back of the sweat-band a flap D is secured, either by means of cement or by stitching, which flap D is provided with the two projections E E corresponding to the extensions 0 G on the sweat-band, and between said two projections E E a recess E is formed. The flaps E E and the edge of the recess E project slightly above the projections O O and the edges of the recess 0' as shown, so as to facilitate inserting the ticket. The ticket can readily be placed into the pocket F formed between the rear surface of the sweat-band and the projections C and the front of the flap D, and the ticket can easily be grasped by two fingers by passing them through the recesses O E. As shown in Fig. 4, the outer edges of the projections O and the upper parts of the flap D are united either by cementing or stitching.

In place of making the projections C G integral with the sweat-band, they may be formed on a separate piece 0 that is sewed on the sweat-band or cemented thereto, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6. The rest of the ticket-holding pocket is to be constructed in the manner previously described.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A sweat-band for hats, provided with a ticket-holder, or pocket formed of said sweatband, and a flap secured to the inner side of the sweat-band and having its bottom and side-edges attached to the sweat-band, tongues extending upward from the top-edge of said flap and sweat-band to facilitate grasping the gicket held in the pocket, substantially as set orth.
