SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 499,931, dated June 20, 1893.
Application filed August 19, 1892.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEWIS PETERSON, a citi fael, Marin county, State of California, have invented an Improvement in Advertising- Glocks; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
My invention relates to that class of advertising devices in which a series of advertising placards is periodically driven to exhibit successive placards, by means of a clock operatingthrough suitableintermediate mechanisms.
My invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and specifically pointed out in the claims.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple, effective and attractive device of this class.
Referring to the accompanying drawings for a more complete explanation of my invention,Figure 1 is a front elevation, a portion of the face of the casing being broken away. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, part of the casing being broken away. Fig. 3 is a detail A is a casing of suitable ornamental character. Bearing down upon this end of lever H raises its other end, and this movement lifts pawl I, which, through its engagement with ratchet J turns shaft D and the end disks 0. A placard B is thus brought forward past the guide hood ct and it then drops by gravity thus exposing its face. Then the cam, relieving the lever H, said lever drops its lower extremity and lowers the pawl I for engagement with the next tooth of the ratchet J, and this same dropping of lever H causes the striker to hit the gong and thereby attract attention to the exhibition of the placard. The operation being repeated, the several placards are successively exhibited. The time during which each placard is exhibited can be properly determined by the movement given to the cam wheel G.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of the shaft D having the disks 0 with the series of pivotally mounted swinging and successively dropping placards, the clock mechanism, the shaft F driven thereby and having a cam wheel Gr, the pivoted lever having one extremity impinging on said cam wheel, the pawl I attached to its other extremity and the ratchet J on shaft D, with which said pawl engages, substantially as herein described.
2. The combination of the shaft D having the disks 0 with the series of pivotally mounted swinging and successively dropping placards, the clock mechanism, the shaft F driven thereby and having a cam'wheel G, the -;piv-; oted 'lever having one extremity impinging on said cam wheel, the pawl I attached to its other extremity, the ratchet J on shaft D with which said pawl engages, the striker carried by the pivoted wleveriand thegongiwit-h which said striker comes in contact by the movement of the lever, substantially as herein described. to
