J. B. DAVIDS. GAME APPARATUS.
NO. 489,854. Patented Jan. 10, 1893.
Ni'rn JOHN B. DAVIDS, OF NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO E. M. CI-IISHOLIWI DAVIDS, OF SAME PLACE.
GAME APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 489,854, dated January 10, 1893.
Application filed July 5, 1892. Serial No. 439,025. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN B. DAVIDS, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Dartmouth,in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have inventcd certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus,
of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Io Figure 1.is a view in perspective of the apparatus, showing.the parts properly arranged for playing the game. Figs. 2. 3. and eL-are views of some of.the details of the device.
Similar letters refer to similar parts in the several views.
a, represents the base of my new game apparatus, consisting of a shallow, oblong tray, having the board Z), forming one end, and hinged to the bottom, by the hinges w, so as to fold down into the tray.
c, represents an upright, having holes e,
fwhich is removably secured in position by dowels projecting from its bottom, which enter corresponding holes in the bottom of the z 5 tray. The block p, having the recess or pocket d,is secured in position,in the same manner. The tops of the holes e, are provided with mortises, in which are fixed t-he wires g,pointing toward the board b, on which wires, are hung by their loops h, the disksf,,' bearing numbers on their surfaces, as 10, 15, 25,; all of which is clearly shown in Fig. 2. which is a view in Vertical section, of a part of the upright c.
i, represents a trongh, having an inclined bottoni 7a, and pocket r. permanently secured to the bottom of the tray, and having the spring plunger m, provided with the handle 8,; projecting into its open end.
40 The apparatus being arranged as shown in Fig. 1.; the ball Z, is placed in the trough i, and fired up the incline k, by means of the spring plunger m; the object being, to give the ball such an im petus, as to cause it to pass through one of the holes e, and dislodge from its Wire, the disk suspended therein, thus making a count in the game, of the number borne on the surface of the disk dislodged.
If the ball drops into the pocket cl, it is a count; or if it rebounds from the upright c, into the pocket 4", it is a count, in thegame. The board b, serves to stop the balls when they go beyond the upright c. The board b, is hinged so as to fold down; and the upright c, and block p, are removably secured to the base,in order that they may be removed, and placed in close and convenient order for packing.
I claimh 1. In a game apparatus, the combination of 6o the base a, having the end board 19,; the upright c, having holes e, provided with wires 9,; the disks f, removably supported on said wires; the trough having inclined bottom 7{;,; the spring plunger m,; and the ball Z, all as shown and desoribed.
2. In a game apparatus, the combination of the base a, having the end board 1),; the upright c, having holes e, provided with wires 9,; the disks, removably supported on said wires; the block p, having pocket 61,; the trough 7;, having inclined bottom k,; the ball Z,; and means to propel said ball up the incline, and through the holes e, all as shown and described.
3. In a game apparaius, the combination of the base a, having the end board 19,; the upright c, having holes e, provided with wires g,; the disksf, removably supported on said wires; the block p, having pocket (1,; the trough i, havinginclined bottom 7a, and pocket 43,' the ball 1,; and means to propel said ball up the incline and through the holes e, all as shown and described.4
JOHN B. DAVIDS.
