At'the center of the plate Athere is made i an oblong holeor slot, 0,} one end of "which is enlarged laterally, as shown at b, the other portion of the slot being of an'eqnel width throughout, as shown clenrly in Fig. 1. At each side ofthis slot; 0 there is an inclined ledge, c, and
this ledge forms abrupt shoulders d at one end, as shown cleerlyin Fig. 3. These ledges odo not extendthe whole length of the slot 0, but
from the inner end of theenlarged pert b to 1 within a short distance of theopposite end, a part, c, of the slot 0, neerlyeqnal in length to the part I), being allowed beyond the shonltiers d. i
1) represents a plate, which is secured by rivets f to the upper end of the other part'of the collar B. This plate D has a. bar or arm, E, projecting centrally from it at right angles, and at the outer end of the bar or arm E, at each side ofit, there is a projection or lip, g. i In order to connect thetwo parts of the col= lar together, the opera tor inserts the outer'part of the bar or arm E through the enlarged part b of the slot 0, and then draws the platesAD apart or from each other until the projections or lips 9 pass over the. inclined edgesc c, as
