"WILLIAM R. FLAOK, or TIFFIN, oIIIo.
DISPLAY-RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 453,969, dated June 9, 1891.
Application filed PebruarylS, 1890. Serial No. 381,312. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. FLAOK, of Tiffin, in the county of Seneca and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to theaccompanyingdrawing, which forms part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in display-racks; and it consists in the combination of the basepieces, which may be mounted upon casters, the inclined standards secured thereto and provided with notches or recesses in their outer edges to receive washboards, the perforated board which secures the upper ends of the standards together and through which the handles of the brooms are passed, and the bottom board, which unites the base-pieces at their centers, as will be more fully'described hereinafter.
The object of my invention is to produce a display-rack which is intended especially for wash-boards and brooms, and which will enable a merchant to display these articles to the best advantage and in the least possible space.
The accompanying drawing represents a perspective of a rack which embodies my invention.
A represents two base-pieces, which may be mounted upon casters B for convenience in being moved around, and which Will be of any desired length or shape that may be preferred. Risingfrom near opposite ends of these pieces A are the four inclined standards 0, which are secured together by means of the bracerods D, and which standards are secured rigidly together at their upper ends. In the outer edges of these standards 0 are formed suitable recesses D, in which the lower edges of the wash-boards G are made to catch. The standards 0 are placed sufficiently near together to allow the feet or legs of the wash- O is the horizontal perforated board H, down through which the handles I of the brooms are passed. The lower ends of these handles I catch in countersunk holes or recesses in the top of the board J, which unites the pieces A together at or near their centers. This board J enables the brooms to be held in an upright position at the same time that it braces the foot-pieces A together.
This device is especially adapted for use in stores, and in addition to displaying the washboards and brooms can have small objects applied to its sides and edges in different ways, so as to expose them for sale.
Instead of wood being used, as is here shown, the entire frame may be made of metal, or wire, or rods, as may be preferred.
Having thus described my invention, I claim The combination of the base-pieces A, the inclined standards 0, provided with recesses D in theirouter edges, the perforated board H, secured to their upper ends, and the recessed board J, secured to the tops of the base-pieces, whereby a display-rack is produced which is intended especially for washboards and brooms, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
\VILLIAM R. FLAOK.
