To all whom, t may concern:

Be it known that I, ALEXANDER DOM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Healthy, Hamilton county, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper-Files, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

The object of my invention is to provide a device for transferring letters, bills, or other office papers from a temporary iile to a pei'- manent box-le in order that the latter may be led away in convenient order for reference, as will more fully hereinafter appear,

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a number of papers filed on a temporary double-arched file with the device for transferring said papers to a permanent file, said transferring-wire being shown in position over the hollow vertical wires of the temporary le ready to be inserted therein in order to file the papers on said transferring-wire to be removed to the permanent file. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the permanent file-box with the papers filed therein, also showing the transfer-wire locked to position at one end of said file-box. Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken through one end of the permanent tile-box, transfer-Wire, and its catch, showing the preferred mode of connecting said parts.

My invention consists of a transfer-wire A, bent substantially as shown, and a suitable catch, as B, connected to the side or end of the permanent file-box C for the purpose of retaining said transfer-wire in position therein after the papers to be tiled have been secured on said wire. a of the transfer-wire are adapted to enter within the hollow filing-tubes l) of 'an ordinary double-arched le, as shown in Fig. l, after which the operator grasps the papers, places his thumb or linger on the transferwire, and gently lifts said papers and wire from contact with said temporary file and then places said papers and wire in the per` manent file-box C, as shown in Fig. 2, the horizontal portion of saidwire being sprung beneath the catch B, in which position the papers are securely retained therein.

The vertical extensions The vertical extensions a of the transferwire are adapted to enter and rest Within suitable openings or recesses in the crossstrip a of the permanent file-box or in suitable openings in the bottom of said box, said openings in connection with the catch B tending to retain said transfer-wire and the papers iiled thereon in a permanent position within the box.

The permanent file-box may be of any desired configuration or construction, but is preferably formed as shown with the hinged top lid`D and hinged side lid D', said lids having a suitable catch, as el, foi-'connecting them together. Each box may be suitably labeled and filed away for reference. If occasion should require an examination of any paper thus filed, the same is of ready access and may be examined without removal from the permanent file-box.

The advantages of my invention are apparent. The means employed for transferring the papers from a temporary file to a permanent one and securing said papers therein is simple of construction, ready and reliable in operation, and cheap of manufacture. Each file-box C is provided With a transfer-wire A and catch B, .as aforedescribed.

The permanent file-box C, having a catch B connected thereto, in combination with transfer-wireA,bent substantially assetforth, the vertical extensions of said transfer-Wire resting on the bottom of said box, the horizontal portion of said wire being sprung beneath said' catch, substantially as set forth.
