Be it known that I, SAMUEL WELOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements-in Combination Household Utensils, of which the following is a specification.

Myinvention relates to certain new and useful improvements in household utensils which [0 are required in almost every household, and

is especially adapted to be used in the handling, measuring, and bottling of fluids and analogous substances; and it consists in certain peculiarities of the construction of the various parts of the device and in its novel arrangement and combination, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth and specifically claimed.

The object of my invention is to combine in a compact and handy form a number of devices to be used for various purposes in household work, which shall be inexpensive in construction, simple and effective in operation, and adaptable to many uses.

Fig. 6 is a sectional plan view of the vessel with the handle removed, showing the mannerof converting it into a dipper or ladle. Fig. 7 is a similar view showing the manner of convert- 5 ing it into a strainer.

Similar letters refer to corrrespondin g parts throughout the different views of the drawings.

A represents a vessel, made of any desired material and of proper form, having at its bottom an opening a of any desired size, and is provided with an extension B, which has formed on its outer side male screw-threads. The inner surface of the vessel A is preferably provided with graduating-marks a to indicate the contents of the vessel when filled to a given point.

To the outside of the vessel A,at a suitable point, is secured in any desired manner a handle 0, which is formed near its free end, preferably, with a rectangular slot b, and in its free end longitudinal with the handle with a rectangular opening K), into which may be inserted the shank of a lamp-chimney-cleaning attachment D.

F is a cap made of suitable material and the proper size to engage with the outer surface of the extension B. The inner portion of the cap F is provided with screw-threads adapted to engage with the male threads on extension 13, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings. This cap is provided at the top with an outwardly-extending flange 0 and at its bottom with an inwardly-extending flange o, having its bottom open, as at c in Fig. 4.

G is a funnel of the usual form, but having its upper portion flattened outwardly to substantially a right angle with the neck of the funnel, thus allowing the flattened portion (Z thereof to rest against the lower outer portion of the extension B and on the inner lower portion of the flange o of the cap F when it is desired to secure the funnel to the vessel A, as seen in Fig. 5.

II is a fiat circular disk of the requisite size to fit within the cap F, and when in use is held against the lower portion of the extension 13 (covering the opening a thereof) by the cap F, which is screwed on the extension B.

I is a perforated disk adapted to be held in 0 the same manner as the disk H, thus forming a strainer. In order to enable me to strain fluids or semi-fluids of different consistency,

I may have a number of perforated disks having various sizes of perforations adapted to 5 suit the fluid to be strained, as will be readily understood.

The end of the handle 0 is formed, as before stated, with an opening Z), which I prefer to make rectangular in shape to prevent too the shank e on the end of the lamp-chimneycleaning device D from turning therein.

The device D, which is useful for cleaning lamp-chimneys, bottles, &c., and for extracting corks or other substances from the interior ot' a bottle, is formed of a number of wires is, slightly curved, as shown in the drawlugs, and secured at one end to a piece m, which has its end formed rectangularto fit in the rectangular opening b, as has been before explained. Around the wires K is a sliding ring n, which is used to force the ends of the wires together when it is desired to re move substances from a bottle or to hold a piece of cloth or the like for cleaning.

It is obvious that the slot 7) in the handle may be used for a wrench for removing small nuts, &c., the handle serving as a levertherefor. Itis also evident that I may or may not use the graduating scales or marks a on the interior of the vessel.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters ."atent', is-

As an improved article of manufacture, a combination household utensil consisting of the vessel A, having the scale a, the screwthreaded extension B, having the opening a, and handle 0, and the screw-threaded cap F, having the opening 0 and flanges c c for securing a disk strainer or funnel to the vessel when it is desired to convert it into a dipper, strainer, or funnel, substantially as set forth.
