The sliding head adjacent to the ways E E is held from moving; but the opposite head, by the movement of the shaft and carriage, is moved forward therewith, thereby compressing the spring I until the end of the pawl is forced sufficiently under the trippingbar K to liberate the pawl from the shaft, when instantly the spring impels the carriage to the opposite end of the track, where it is secured and operated in a similar manner.

In Fig. 6 I have shown the bracket A constructed for attachment to the ceiling instead of to a side wall, and in this case the auxiliary bracket A to which the ways E E are connected, may be adjust-ably engaged with the main bracket A, an arm A being sleeved into an arm A of the main bracket and being held in any desired point of adjustment by a setscrew A In this way an adjustable bracket is provided; but any other means of adjustment may be employed within the scope of my invention.

Vhat I claim as my invention is- 1. In a cash-carrier apparatus, the combination, with supporting-ways, of a reciprocatory paw1,a sliding carriage provided with a fixed shaft, sliding heads upon said shaft, a spring bearing on said heads, and means for disengaging said pawl from said shaft, substantially as set forth.

2. In a cash-carrier apparatus, the combination, with the supporting-ways B E E, of a carriage mounted to slide upon the supporting-way B, a shaft fixed to said carriage, sliding heads sleeved upon said shaft and having projecting arms, a spring bearing on said heads, a pawl or catch supported upon the ways E E to engage said shaft, means for reciprocating said pawl and means for disengaging it from said shaft, and a stop secured to said ways E E for the ends of the projecting arms of the sliding heads to bear against, substantially as set forth.

In a cash-carrier apparatus, the combination, with the supporting-Ways and the track, of a carrier mounted upon the track, a shaft fixed to said carriage, sliding heads engaged with said shaft, a spring bearing with its ends against the inner ends of said heads, a pawl mounted to slide upon the supportingways to engage the end of said shaft, and means for sliding the pawl, substantially as set forth.
