APPARATUS FOR MAKING PRINTERS ROLLERS.

useful Improvements in Apparatus for Making Printers Rollers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to improvements in apparatus for making printers rollers, more especially to that kind where a cylinder holds a number of mold-tubes and the bottom turns under the cylinder or the cylinder above the bottom. In this kind of apparatus the bottom is usually provided with an open gutter, as shown at A in the drawings. This gutter is provided with a nozzle a, through which rollercomposition is admitted. The mold-tubes B are arranged in radial sets, as shown. By rotating the cylinder or the bottom the gutter A is brought under thebottoms of each set of mold-tubes, and they are filled by the com- Fig. 4 Fig. 5 is a perspective of W position entering the nozzle a into the gutter A and up into the mold-tubes.

The rollerstocks are inserted in the mold-tubes, their ends being placed in centering-spiders. Now it is found that as the gutter comes under the ends of these stocks either part of the spiders 1889. Serial No. 301,668. (No modeh) or the projecting ends of the roller-stocks drop down into the gutter, and hence prevent or impede the proper rotation of the device.

It is the object of the present invention to cure this defect. bridges across the gutter in the paths of the mold-tubes. e

These may be separate pieces riveted to the bottom, as shown in Fig. 2, or they may be cast with the bottom, as shown in Fig. 4. The formeris perhaps preferable, as they can be regulated to suit the spacing of the mold-tubes.

The form of spider shown in Fig. 5 is perhaps the preferable form to use with this device. In use the lower ends of the rollerstocks rest in these spiders, as usual, the spiders being at the bottoms of the mold-tubes.
