l' IMPROVEMENT IN PLows.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 4,127, dated July 30, 1845.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that LWM. BULLooK, of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and usel'ul Improvement in the Construction of Plows; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description.

The nature of my invention consists in placing points on the top of the share, and in one or more points between the forward point and the back end of the share.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.

I construct the wood-work, mold-board, and landside in any of theusual forms of plows or as per drawings, and construct a share and points as follows: The share 3 has pieces 4 4 4 east upon the upper side,in the form of a dovetail, about onehalf inch thick, one inch wide at the forward points, A AA, and one and one-half inch at the points B B B on the upper side, and threefourths inch forward and one and one-fourth inch at B B B, at the lower or side nexttbe share, andrunning back about ve inches from the forward part of the share, at points A A A to B B B, and I cast points 1 l l about seven inches long, two and onefourth inches wide, and three-fourths inch thick at the back, and one inch in the center, and tapering to a point forward. vIn tbe lower side I cast a groove to iit the dovetail pieces 4 4 4,

commencing at the back end of the points and running within about two inches of sharp end of the points. I then fasten the share 30u the mold-board 'by means of a screw-bolt and slide the points l l l on the dovetail pieces 4 44, and the plow isready for use. Thus it'will readily be seen that the point or points, being raised above and carried forward of the share, will raise the ground and prevent much ofthe wear and friction, and the points, being light and fastened on as above, can be renewed at pleasure and at little expense.

Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. Theloosepoints upon theuppersidcof the share, being connected to the share by means of a dovetail or other analogous device.

2. The invention of a plow having one'or more points between the forward pointand the back end of the cutting part ot` the share, whether east fast to thc share or loose, as per drawings annexed, substantially in the nia-nner and for the purposes set forth.
