IMPROVEMENT IN CORSETS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.- 39,126, dated July 7, 1863.

Beit known that I, HoRAo-E II. DAYTON,

, of the city and county of Vorcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Construction of Corsets and SkirtSupporters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, due reference being had to the drawings herewith presented.

In said drawings, Figure l is a back View.

Fig. 2 is a front view.

A (see drawings) with the opening B down the back to be laced up to adjust it to the wearer, and the front C with clasps, as shown, that it may be easily removed, and attaching the shoulder-straps D D near the lacing on the back and nearly around to the arm-pit in front, where they buckle to the elastics I I, and are united on the back by the elastic band H, which eft'ectually keeps the straps from slipping ottl the shoulders, and in connection with them forms a shoulder-brace for the wearer, the lower part ofthe corsetbeing spread, and provided with one or more extensors, as J, to support and extend the skirt similar to bustles.

I do not claim combining corsets and skirtsupporters or bustles; but

I claimf A corset combining the adjustable shouderstraps D, body A, and extensor J, or the equivalent thereof', substantially as shown and described.
