Abstract
A dummy which corresponds to at least the sole of a skiing boot in shape and size and is provided with means by which the dummy when held in the binding can be deflected upwardly at its rear end and laterally at its forward end. A lever for operating the deflecting means is mounted in known manner in the rear one-third of the dummy on a horizontal transverse axis and in a normal position extends upwardly in an at least approximately vertical direction and can be pivotally shifted forwardly and rearwardly against spring force. A lever arm is connected to and angled from the operating lever and adapted to deflect the dummy upwardly. A bar linkage is connected to the operating lever and adapted to deflect the dummy laterally as the operating lever is shifted in the opposite sense. An abutment for the bar linkage is adapted to be secured to the ski or to the wood specimen.

A lever for operating the deflecting means is mounted in known manner in the rear onethird of the dummy on a horizontal transverse axis and in a normal position extends upwardly in an at least approximately vertical direction and can be pivotally shifted forwardly and rearwardly against spring force.

Claims (7)
1. Apparatus for demonstrating the mode of operation of safety ski bindings mounted on skis or wood specimens, which apparatus comprises a dummy which corresponds to at least the sole of a skiing boot in shape and size and is provided with means by which the dummy when held in the binding can be deflected upwardly at its rear end and laterally at its forward end, and a lever for operating the deflecting means, characterized in that the operating lever is mounted in the rear one-third of the dummy on a horizontal transverse axis and in a normal position extends upwardly in an approximately vertical direction and can be pivotally shifted forwardly and rearwardly against spring force, that a lever arm is connected to and angled from the operating lever and adapted to deflect the dummy upwardly, that a bar linkage is connected to the operating lever and adapted to deflect the dummy laterally as the operating lever is shifted in the opposite sense, and that an abutment for the bar linkage is adapted to be secured to the ski or the wooden base.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that a hinged plate is provided inside the dummy and is mounted in the forward one-third of the dummy on a horizontal transverse axis and extends rearwardly and said hinged plate in its normal position extends at least approximately parallel to the undersurface of the apparatus and with its free end is resiliently held in engagement with the lever arm that is connected to the operating lever.
3. Apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that the bar linkage is connected to the dummy by the hinged plate and by the latter is resiliently held in its normal position.
4. Apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that a helical tension spring is provided to resiliently hold the hinged plate in position.
5. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the opening through which the operating lever extends out of the dummy is closed by a flexible bellows.
6. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that for use with safety bindings mounted on wood specimens the abutment for the bar linkage consists of a head screw, which is screwed into the wood specimen and carries a backing ring on its shank.
7. Apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that a helical tension spring is provided to resiliently hold the bar linkage in position.
