The holder unit includes a hollow compartment having an inclined face, and a roller disposed within the compartment and guided by the inclined face to hold the sheet, when inserted into the compartment, between the roller and the plate. The sheet holder may include a plurality of the mounting blocks adapted to be fixed to the wall in spaced relationship, and at least two of the holder units each attachable to one of the mounting blocks to enable them to hold different size sheets.
I 5 Claims, 6 Drawing Figures 1 WALL MOUNTED SHEET HOLDER BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to wall mounted sheet holders, and particularly to the type of sheet holders including a compartment having an inclined face and a roller disposed within the compartment and guided by the inclined face to hold the sheet.
A number of such sheet holders have been produced. One form includes an adhesive layer on the back face for mounting to the wall, but this form may be used only with respect to small sized sheets. Moreover, once the holder is mounted to the wall, it is difficult, if at all possible, to remove same, which may be desirable to inspect the bundle of sheets held by the holder or to move same to another location.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention providesa wall mounted sheet holder which may be conveniently attached to the wall at a desired location, and then conveniently removed with the sheets held thereby, to facilitate examination of the sheets. If desired, the holdercan also be conveniently moved to another location. Another object of the invention is to provide a holder which can be used for holding different sized sheets.
According to the invention, the novel holder comprises a mounting block having a flat face for fixing to the wall, and a holder unitincluding a plate formed at its upper end with a cutout or opening adapted to be received on the mounting block. The latter opening extends through the plate and is of the same configuration as the mounting block. The holder may thus be quickly attached onto the mounting block by merely aligning the holder opening with the block and pressing the holder against the block in the direction towards its flat mounting face, and may be as quickly removed from the block by merely pulling the holder in the opposite direction. The holder unit includes a housing member fixed to the plate and defining a hollow compartment. The housing member is formed with an inclined face converging towards the plate from top to bottom, but spaced therefrom at the bottom to define a gap enabling an edge of a sheet to be inserted into the compartment. A roller is disposed within the compartment and is guided by the inlcined face of the housing member to hold the sheet, when inserted into the compartment, between the roller and the plate.
The mounting block carries an adhesive layer on the mentioned flat face for fixing to the wall.
According to another feature, there are a plurality, at least three, of the mounting blocks adapted to be fixed to the wall in spaced relationship, and at least two of the holder units each attachable and removable from one of the mounting blocks, thereby enabling two hold- BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS I The invention is herein described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a front plan view of the holder unit of a sheet holder constructed in accordance with the inventron;
FIG. 2 is a sectional view along lines II-II of the holder unit of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a corresponding sectional view of the complete sheet holder mounted to a wall, the clamping roller being shown in its sheet-gripping position;
FIG. 4 is a view corresponding to that of FIG. 3 but showing the clamping roller in its sheet-releasing positron;
FIG. 5 is a plan view showing the rear face of the mounting block and holder unit;
FIG. 6 illustrates the use of a plurality (five) of the mounting blocks and two of the holder units for mounting different sized sheets.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT quickly attached to the mounting block by placing the holder next to the wall with its opening 12 aligned with mounting block 2, and then pressing the holder towards the wall i.e., in the direction of the flat face 8 of the mounting block, so that the mounting block is received within the opening. If desired the sides of the mounting block 2 may be tapered inwardly, from the wall mounted face to the opposite face, with the walls of the cutout 12 similarly tapered, to facilitate the application of the holder unit to the mounting block. The holder may be just as conveniently removed by pulling same off the mounting block in the direction away from its fiat face 8.
. Holder unit 10 further includes a housing member 14 fixed to flat plate 10 and projecting inwardly thereof. Housing member 14 is formed with a downwardly inclining top wall 16, a front wall 18, and a pair of side walls 20 spaced from the flat plate 10 by means of slot 22. Front wall 18 converges towards plate 10 from topto-bottom, and terminates in an inwardly inclined ledge 24 at the bottom spaced from plate 10 to form a gap 26. Front wall 18 of the housing member 14 is further formed with a central slot 28 at its lower portion.
Disposed within housing member 14 is a roller 30 which is guided by the inclined inner face of wall 18 and the end walls 20 to move by gravity towards plate 10.
In use, the user merely inserts the sheet 6 into the bottom of the compartment through gap 26 so that the top edge of the sheet lies between roller 30 and plate 10. The roller, being urged downwardly by gravity and being guided towards the sheet by the inclined face of front wall 18 of the housing, engages and firmly clamps the upper edge of the sheet between it and plate 10, as
shown in FIG. 3.
To remove the sheet, the user need only raise roller 30 with his finger via slot 28, whereby the sheet is released and may be removed. Alternatively, he may re- 3 move the sheet by pulling it sideways from the housing.
An important advantage of the present invention is the mounting arrangement including the mounting block 2 and the opening 12 formed on the holder units 4. Thus, whenever it is desired to remove the holder for inspection of the sheets held by it, this may be conveniently done by slipping it off the mounting block; and whenever it is desired to change the location of the note holder, it is only necessary to mount a separate mounting block 2 at the new desired location, and transfer the holder unit 4 to that location.
Another advantage of the present invention is that it enables different sized sheets to be conveniently held. This is particularly shown in FIG. 6 wherein it will be seen that the holder includes five mounting blocks 102 fixed to the wall in any desired spaced relationship, and two holder units 104 which are conveniently attachable to selective ones of themounting block. Thus if a wide sheet is to be held, two holder units 104 are mounted on two widely spaced mounting blocks, and if a narrower sheet is to be held they are mounted on more closely space mounting blocks.
Many other modifications, variations and applications of the illustrated embodiment will be apparent.
