2 Claims, 8 Drawing Figures LIQUID ABSORBING DEVICE HAVING AN ENDLESS TOWEL BELT The invention is directed to a liquid absorbing device having an endless towel belt. The prime object of the invention is to devise a towel dryer that would have a continuous means for absorbing liquids from a wet surface.
Another object being to devise a Towel Dryer that would have a towel in a endless belt form, laminated to a solid rubber foundation. Still another object being to devise a Towel Dryer that has its own means of wringing dry the said endless towel belt. Still another object being to devise a Towel Dryer that would be compact in size. These and other objectives l have attained in the following lllustrations, specification. claims and drawings, of which;
FIG. 1 is a elevational view of the device.
FIG. 2 is a elevational view of the device without its endless towel belt and rubber towel rollers attached.
FIG. 3 is a plan view of the device with cut-awat sectrons.
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the combination handle and axle with an axle block and key in position.
HO. 5 is a perspective view of the endless belt.
FIG. 6 is a perspective view showing the threaded pillow, adjustment screw, and axle block.
FIG. 7 is a perspective view of the wringer roller.
FIG. 8 is a perspective view of the axle block.
The shell like body 1, comprises opposed downwardly extending flange portions A &-B and is made of plastic or any rigid material with plastic brackets 1D, cemented to its inner side a plastic platform IE, is cemented to the under side of the said brackets 1D. Platform 1E has a layer of non-absorbing sponge 1F on its undersurface that acts as a support for the endless towel 10. Element 10 is laminated to a non-stretch rubber foundation 10A, or to any flexible material. The shell like body 1, is provided with plastic axles 1B and 1C, projecting from its inner side, that-have threads 1G, on their ends. The said shell like body 1, is provided also with a handle 1A, and is made with threaded pillaws 3, on its sides near its back end, and made with slots ll, into which fit slidable axle blocks 2. The adjustment screws 4, fit in the threaded pillow blocks 3, and adjust the pressure of the rubber wringer roller 5, against the rubber towel roller 6. Element 6 is identical to the front rubber towel roller 7. The combination handle and axle consist of a crank handle 8, and axle 8A. Element 8A is made, with a stop 88, and provided with a key 8C. Key 8C is welded on the said axle 8A, after one of the said two axle blocks 2, is slid thereon. The key 8C, fits in the key-way 5A, made in the wringer roller 5, by which the said wringer roller 5 is turned. The stop 88, keep the axle block 2, at a set position on the axle 8A. The combination handle 8, and axle 8A, passes thru the axle block 2, the rubber wringer roller 5, and the other axle block 2, thereafter is flanged 9, at its end. The said axle 1B, and 1C, have nuts 1H, that fit are screwable thereon. The endless towel belt 10, fits on the rubber towel rollers 6 and 7. To operate the towel dryer, place the towel surface on any wet surface and push in a forward and backward motion, absorbing the liquid from any wet surface. To wring dry, turn the wringer roller handle.
I claim:
l. A manually driven device for absorbing liquids comprising an elongated shell having a handle and opposed downwardly extending flange portions, aligned slots in the opposed flange portions; axle blocks slidably mounted in said slot; threaded pillows mounted on the flange portions; adjustment screws threaded in said pillows and adapted to bear against said blocks; a platform mounted on said shell adjacent the lower portions thereof and positioned outwardly of the slots; a nonporous sponge backing secured to the undersurface of the platform; spaced, substantially parallel transversely extending axles mounted on the shell outwardly of the slots flanking the platform; roller sleeves mounted on the axles; an endless belt, comprising towelling material laminated to a non-porous foundation, trained over the roller sleeves and sponge backing, the lower stretch of the belt adapted to contact the surface to the dried; a keyed wringer axle provided with an actuating handle and a stop adjacent the handle, the wringer axle being rotatably mounted in said axle blocks with one of said blocks positioned between the key and stop and adapted to bear against the latter; a wringer roller having a keyway therethrough mounted on the wringer axle; the wringer roller adapted to bear against the belt to wring the same upon actuating the wringer handle.

1. A manually driven device for absorbing liquids comprising an elongated shell having a handle and opposed downwardly extending flange portions, aligned slots in the opposed flange portions; axle blocks slidably mounted in said slot; threaded pillows mounted on the flange portions; adjustment screws threaded in said pillows and adapted to bear against said blocks; a platform mounted on said shell adjacent the lower portions thereof and positioned outwardly of the slots; a non-porous sponge backing secured to the undersurface of the platform; spaced, substantially parallel transversely extending axles mounted on the shell outwardly of the slots flanking the platform; roller sleeves mounted on the axles; an endless belt, comprising towelling material laminated to a non-porous foundation, trained over the roller sleeves and sponge backing, the lower stretch of the belt adapted to contact the surface to the dried; a keyed wringer axle provided with an actuating handle and a stop adjacent the handle, the wringer axle being rotatably mounted in said axle blocks with one of said blocks positioned between the key and stop and adapted to bear against the latter; a wringer roller having a keyway therethrough mounted on the wringer axle; the wringer roller adapted to bear against the belt to wring the same upon actuating the wringer handle.
2. A device as set forth in claim 1 in which the towelling material is laminated to a rubber foundation.
