DISPLAY FRAME. v Patented Mar. 6, 1888.
UNITED STATES SIMON DANOYGEB, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
PATENT OFFICE. I
DiSPLAY-FRAM E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 379,055, dated March 6, 1888.
Application filed September 26, 1887. Serial No. 250.649. (No model.)
T0 on whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SIMON DANOYGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Frames; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form apartof this specification;
My invention relates to improvements in display-frames, and is an improvement of invention set forth in Letters Patent No. 363,369, of date May 24, 1887.
The object of the device is for the purpose of holding the frame more rigidly in position, so that the position of the frame is not dependent on the friction of the pivots. I attain the object'by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure I is a side view of the display-frame with the holding device attached to the right pivot. Fig. II is an enlarged vertical horizontal central section of the holding device with connecting parts. Fig. III is a face view of the frame-joint.
Like letters designate like parts throughout the several views.
The display-frame is quite like my former invention, referred to above, with the exception that the couplings at the pivot are so modified that a bolt carried by a spiral spring serves to hold the frame in certain positions.
E E are standards, having plates screwed onto the lower ends, and which plates have holes for wood-screws to fasten said plates to a counter, wall of a room, or ceiling. On the upper end of the right standard is attached the joint fby being screwed onto the same. It receives the pivot of the frame, and over said pivotal orifice is an orifice to receive the bolt S. Within this latter orifice is a spiral spring, t, to thrust the bolt outwardly.
The display-frame consists of three parallel rods or iron tubes, A B O, the central one of which may be dispensed with, fastened together at their ends to the coupling or joint g by the short tubes D, and the left end is connected by a T-joint, and to the standard by an elbow-joint, into which the threaded pivot of the frame enters. The joint 9 has threaded orifices for the reception of the armsD Dand 5 the central rod, B, and has a circular face with shallow orificesa, for the entering ofthespring- 'bolt, and a projection which forms the pivot of the frame.
The pivots of the frame may be threaded or otherwise, and plain suitable means must be used toprevent the pivots from slipping from the hearings in the standards.
To the frame may be attached-a handle, I, by means of a cord, to both sides, to partially rotate the same in shifting from one point of engagement of the bolt to that of another to display the goods suspended thereon to better advantage. The general use is that of displaying dry.goods, which are suspended on the several rods of the movable frame.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 15-- The combination of the display-frame composed of parts A B O and standards E E, said frame supported on the pivotal couplings f, uniting said parts, and having shallow orifices a in the face of said coupling, and the couplings g, having bearings for said pivots, and a housing carrying a spring'actuated bolt to engage said orifices and screwed to the tops of said standards, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SIMON DANOYGER.
Witnesses;
B. PIOKERING, WM. H. YOUNG.
