7 Claims, 1 Drawing Figure CONTAINER SLEEVE FOR DRAWING NIBS OF INDIAN INK WRITING DEVICES BACKGROUND OF INVENTION 1. Field to Which Invention Relates The present invention relates to a container sleeve having a plug closure part and adapted for receiving drawing nibs which can be screwed into indian ink writing devices, the nib being provided with a key contour.
2. The Prior Art For screwing in and unscrewing drawing nibs with different line thicknesses it is generally necessary to use a tool. It has become a conventional practice to provide such a key or spanner with drawing devices of this type, so that the key can fit the nut contour of the drawing nibs. Such separate keys can, however, easily be mislaid and lost, so that the user may then use unsuitable tools which may lead to damage of the drawing nib in question.
In order to avoid these disadvantages a proposal has already been made to provide a key recess at the rear end of the holding shank. However, in order to be able to apply the spanner or key to the key face of the drawing nib it is necessary to unscrew the whole insert, provided with the indian ink container, and into which the nib is screwed. The same disadvantage occurs in the case of other previously proposed drawing devices in the case of which a holding cap or a shank end piece with a key face or flat is provided, in which case the part concerned must be removed from the remaining container by unscrewing, if the drawing nib is to be removed from the remainder of the holding shank.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION One aim of the present invention is to provide a key arrangement which cannot be lost and which makes possible unscrewing and screwing in of the writing nib or tip without it being necessary, for this purpose, to remove the holder or an insert part.
In accordance with the invention this aim is achieved through one of the plugs or the closure part and the container sleeve for the nib having a key or spanner recess matching the key contour on the exterior of the drawing nib.
Such container sleeves are used for dispatch of the drawing nib sent with the indian ink containers and the container sleeves are then used for storage of the writing nib concerned and are always available with it, so that loss of this container is not to be feared. If nevertheless a container sleeve should be lost or mislaid, it is possible to use for purpose of unscrewing and screwing up of a nib the container of the nib of another drawing device.
In accordance with a preferred form of the invention the key or spanner is in the form of a box spanner and is arranged in the plug. In order to be able to exert the required torque the plug is provided with a projecting handle which can easily be held, for example and which, more especially, has the form of a wing like the wing of a wing nut.
The recess, which can be plural sided, e.g., of hexagonal form, in the box spanner or key is preferably slightly conically tapered so that a writing nib can easily be jammed in it. A further advantage of the invention is that any writing nib which is dirty with indian ink does not have to be touched with the hand on being removed and replaced, and that the tip of the outflow tube is protected in a recess in the plug against mechanical damage during removal and replacement.
Instead of closure plugs it is also possible to use screw closures or caps with suitable key or spanner contours. The container sleeve and/or closure part can conveniently be provided with a color code in accordance with their line thickness.
The part provided with the spanner or key or both parts, that is to say the plug and the container sleeve, are preferably made of transparent plastics material, so that the position of the nib in the box spanner or key can be precisely determined by eye.
In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention the arrangement is such that the writing nib located in the container sleeve in a condition fit for dispatch, is engaged in the box spanner or key even in the dispatched condition, so that upon removing the plug from the sleeve, the writing nib is simultaneously removed, because it is jammed into the box spanner or key.
In what follows an embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the drawing. The single FIGURE of the drawings shows a perspective and partly broken away view of a container sleeve in accordance with the preferred form of the invention, with a box spanner or key constructed in the plug, in combination with a pen nib. The container constructed in accordance with the invention for writing nibs 8 of indian ink writing devices comprises a container sleeve 10 and a male plug 12. The latter has extending in from its top section a female plural sided, or hexagonal key or socket 14, which matches the external plural sided or hexagonal form of the exterior portion 19 of the writing nib 8. This external hexagonal socket l4 tapers narrower in an inward direction in order to exert a gripping effect on the writing nib and to fix the writing nib in the plug 12 in a frictional manner. Instead of this conically tapering construction it is also possible to use other gripping means in the plastics material.
In the section of plug 12 extending outward beyond the shoulder 16 and beyond the end of sleeve 10 when plug 12 is inserted in sleeve 10, plug 12 is provided with a handle in the form of a gripping wing 18. The space 21 enclosed by the female hexagonal form there adjoins a cavity 22 extending to the rear of plug 12. Into cavity 22 the forwardly projecting part 23 of the writing nib 8 can be inserted so that portion 19 can seat in the key or spanner face 14.
I claim: 1. In combination: a unitary drawing pen nib for use with a drawing pen having a plural sided exterior peripheral contour; a container sleeve in which said nib is positioned; said sleeve having an open end for receiving said nib; a plug member for closing said sleeve open end and for retaining said nib in said sleeve; said plug member including a cavity into which said nib extends; said plug member including a recess shaped to conform to said nib exterior contour; said nib being shaped and positioned such that its said exterior contour is received in said recess and such that said nib extends into said cavity, whereby the entire said nib is rotatable by rotating said plug member having said recess and the entire said nib is carryable in said plug,
the sleeve member.
5. The structure as set forth in claim 4, in which the plug member is made of transparent plastics material.
6. The structure as set forth in claim 1, in which said sleeve member is made of transparent material.
7. The structure as set forth in claim 1, in which at least one of said sleeve and said plug member are made of colored plastics material, the color denoting the line breadth of the nib.
