l Claim, 2 Drawing Figures PAINT POT HOLDER This invention relates to paint can supports attachable to ladders.
A principal object of the present invention is to provide a paint bucket or paint can holder that is attachable to a ladder so that the paint can is in front of a painter for convenient use.
Another object is to provide a paint can holder that thus permits the painter to paint with either left or right hand easily.
Another object is to provide a paint can holder which permits the painter to move the ladder without need to remove the paint can from the ladder.
Another object is to provide a paint can holder which I has a central smaller depression in which a quart size paint can be supported, and a larger peripheral depression around it in which a gallon size paint pot can be supported, each depression having clips on its sides to hold the paint cans from tipping over.
Yet another object is to provide a paint can holder which will prevent splashing of paint out of the paint can or bucket.
Other objects are to provide a paint pot holder which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use, and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily apparent upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the invention mounted on a ladder.
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 22 of FIG. 1 and showing a paint bucket placed thereupon.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral represents a paint pot holder according to the present invention, wherein there is a tray 11 having a central depression 12A into which a quart size paint can or bucket 13 can be placed. A peripheral depression 128 extends around a front and opposite sides of the depression 12A, the depression 128 being higher than the depression 12A. Upstanding peripheral walls 15A and 15B bound the depressions, and have inwardly extending clips 14 to hold the paint buckets from tipping over.
rearwardly rolled into hooks 17 so to be hung over a rung 18 of a ladder 19.
An inverted U-shaped bracket 20 is secured to an underside of the tray, so to removably receive a hook 21 formed on one end of a diagonally downward inclined brace 22, which at the opposite end has a semi-circular notch 23 for resting against a lower rung 24 of the ladder 19.
The holder may be made of any suitable material such as sheet metal and bar metal welded together and may be made in any of various sizes as desired by a manufacturer. 7
In use, a person simply secures the holder on a ladder and places a quart size paint bucket in depression 12A or a gallon size paint bucket in depression 12B. The
bucket is in front of the painter so that he can paint with either hand. The ladder can be moved in new positions while painting without need to remove the bucket, and without paint splashing out of the bucket.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In a paint pot holder, the combination of a tray, a pair of hook means and a brace for support to a ladder, said tray including a central depression, a peripheral depression around said central depression, and upstanding peripheral walls around said depressions, said central depression being adaptable to hold a quart size paint can, and said peripheral depression being adaptable to hold a gallon size paint can, said central depression having a bottom which is lower than a bottom of said peripheral depression, whereby a peripheral underside area of said gallon size paint can is rested on said peripheral depression bottom for stability against tipping, said hook means comprising a pair of upstanding bars secured to a rear of sad tray, the upper ends of said bars being turned into hooks for support to a rung of said ladder, said brace being attachable at one end to a bracket on an underside of said tray, the other end of said brace having a notch. for resting against a lower rung of said ladder.
