Abstract

An electrical amusement device including a circular base having two guides or tracks for adjustably supporting elbow pads which provide support for contestants'' elbows with the adjustment on the rails compensating for the length of a person''s forearm. Pressure pads are provided on the right and left of the opponents on a slight angle above the base plate. A hand grip in the form of a round bar is provided under the pressure pad thus eliminating any leverage advantages contestants may use on one another. The opponents pit their strength against one another until one opponent puts the others back of the hand down on the pressure pad, at which time a contact button under the pressure pad will actuate a signal device to designate a win.

A contact bar is elevated approximately or 6 inches off the table for opponents to force each other to touch for a win.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the invention is to provide a mechanical and electrical amusement device which permits two contestants to engage in the art of arm wrestling to have equal advantages by adjusting a pair of elbow pads and also by providing a gripping bar for the other hand not engaged in the game.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a positive win indication by the contact pads being wired to a buzzer and also a red light which are set 013 by the press of the back of the arm or hand of a contestant as his opponent forces his arm to the pad.

A further object of this invention is to provide a mechanical and electrical portable amusement device that eliminates as many variables as possible in the use by two opponents in a contest in arm wrestling. The variables which are reduced or eliminated are: (l) the elbow position which is maintained by an elbow pad which is adjustable to make each of the opponents arm height the same. (2) A hand gripper for the hand not being used so that each opponent must grip the grip bar giving neither opponent the advantage of leverage with that arm from different positions. (3) A positive indication as towho is the winner by the use of pressure sensitive pads that, when touched, set off a signal light and buzzer which indicates a win.

Other and further objects and advantages of the present invention will be readily apparent from the following description and drawings, in which:

FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the contact bracket which angles the height of the contact pads and also supports the gripping bars.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The complete assembly of this amusement device is shown in FIG. I with the principal members including base I, elbow pads 2, gripping

FIG. 2 shows the base I of the device with the center raised portion IA of the base being a mounting section for the gripping bracket 3 in FIG. 1. The holes 11C in the raised portion IA are for bolts that attach the gripping brackets to the base I. The two raised portions IE on the base I are slide rails 1B for the elbow pads 2 in FIG. 4. The right rail is used for right handed players and the left rail is used for left handed players.

FIGS. 4 and 5 show the assembly of the elbow slide pad 2 having a rubber top 2A and a slide slot 2B which slides on the slide rails 13.

FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 show an assembly and sections of the gripping bracket 3. On each end of the gripping bracket 3 are channel supports 3A which support the gripping bar 41 which is attached with nuts 5 at each end. Holes 3B in the gripping bracket 3 are used to attach bracket 3 to base I with bolts 15. The hole 3C in the gripping bracket 3 is an opening for the 110 volt male plug 16. This opening is eliminated if batteries are used as alternate electrical supply shown in FIG. 11.

FIGS. 9, l0 and 11 show an assembly, cross section and wiring diagram of the electrical contact bracket 6. Attached to bracket 6 are two contact buttons 13 and signal light 14, pressure arms and

7 and 7A attached to contact bracket 6 with hinge 8 and screws 9. Also the buzzer 11 is attached with screw 12 and a plug 10 is also mounted on bracket 6.

In the alternate construction the plug 10 is eliminated and in its place would be two'nine volt batteries 15. The lower portion of the contact bracket 6 shown in FIG. 10 will slide in the base 1 (FIG. 2) ofiset 1D for easy assembly.

The device may be constructed of any suitable material such as metal, plastic, wood or any suitable combination thereof which will provide adequate strength for the device. Also, various voltage batteries may be employed and various types of visual or audible signals may be employed as desired. The pads may be adjustably supported on the base by various slidable interengaging structures such as a projection slidably received in a slot in the base or various shapes of tracks and recesses in the pads.

While I have shown and described certain embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that it is capable of many modifications. Changes, therefore, in the construction and arrangement may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

I claim:

I. An amusement device for use when arm wrestling comprising a base, a pair of elbow supporting pads mounted on said base for supporting the elbows of opponents when arm wrestling, and indicator means disposed on opposite sides of a generally broad vertical plane in which the hands, forearms and elbows are placed to commence arm wrestling, to indicate when one of the players has forced the hand of his opponent out of the broad vertical plane to a predetermined extent, handgrip means mounted on said base in equally spaced relation to the broad vertical plane for providing each wrestler with the leverage and proper positioning between his elbow and his other hand, said base being in the form of a plate, guide means on opposite sides of the plate, said guide means being in the form of right and left parallel rails, said pads being movably and slidably mounted on opposed selectively positioned rails for free inward and outward movement on the plate, said right rails being used when right handed players are contesting and said left rails being usedcontact with a players hand.

Claims

1. An amusement device for use when arm wrestling comprising a base, a pair of elbow supporting pads mounted on said base for supporting the elbows of opponents when arm wrestling, and indicator means disposed on opposite sides of a generally broad vertical plane in which the hands, forearms and elbows are placed to commence arm wrestling, to indicate when one of the players has forced the hand of his opponent out of the broad vertical plane to a predetermined extent, handgrip means mounted on said base in equally spaced relation to the broad vertical pLane for providing each wrestler with the leverage and proper positioning between his elbow and his other hand, said base being in the form of a plate, guide means on opposite sides of the plate, said guide means being in the form of right and left parallel rails, said pads being movably and slidably mounted on opposed selectively positioned rails for free inward and outward movement on the plate, said right rails being used when right handed players are contesting and said left rails being used when left handed players are contesting, whereby the players arms will assume a natural offset position relative to each other while still remaining in a generally broad vertical plane, said indicator means including an electrically powered signal device on said opposite sides of the broad vertical plane, and an actuator for each signal device disposed in the path of movement of the hands of the players, each of said actuators comprising a movable hand contacting member, normally biased away from said signal device, but adapted to contact said signal device when the bias is overcome by contact with a players hand.
