Abstract

A combination of a telescoping handle, wet mop, broom, dust mop and a storage and carrying case for the same is disclosed. The heads are all interchangeable for use with the same handle and each has its own storage space in the carrier. The carrier is so dimensioned so as to allow storage on a normal kitchen shelf. One embodiment includes an internal cavity for use as a dust pan when the carrier is placed on the floor and in certain embodiments the stowage cavities for one or more of the heads is designed to act as a nonspillable pail and integral wringer.

Claims

1. A cleaning system comprising: an extendable retractable handle, a plurality of interchangeable heads for said handle to perform different cleaning functions, carrier means for said handle and heads comprising a body having height and width approximating normal kitchen shelves including recess means for the interchangeable heads and a separate recess for storing the retracted handle, said carrier means being dimensioned to rest on a shelf or in a drawer and having at least one of the aforementioned recesses in the upper surface and of sufficient size to constitute a holder for cleaning fluids for use with the system when the recess is not occupied by a head or handle.

2. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein said carrier means includes at least one hand hold to allow the transporting of the entire cleaning system by said hand hold with said carrier means.

3. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein said interchangeable heads include at least a broom and a mop having generally T-shaped heads, the handle and heads including mating locking devices whereby the heads may be selectively attached to the handle.

4. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein said recesses are of sufficient depth to hold more than one interchangeable head.

5. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein said carrier includes an additional side recess adjacent to the lower outer edge including a ramp portion and an internal cavity suitable for use in dust collection by sweeping dust over the ramp into the cavity.

6. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein said recess includes a restricted portion in one of the edge walls which acts as an integral mop wringer.

7. The combination in accordance with claim 6 wherein said recess usable for cleaning liquid is generally T-shaped to accommodate the T-shaped head and the narrow portion of the T constitutes the integral mop wringer.

8. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein at least two of the recesses are of sufficient depth and closed bottom to provide two cleaning liquid storage areas, for example, one for wash and one for rinse water.

9. The combination in accordance with claim 4 wherein said carrier includes an additional recess dimensioned to hold a package of cleaning compound.

10. A storage and carrier assembly for cleaning equipment comprising a unitary body of material uneffected by cleaning solvents including a generally flat base and dimensions compatible with a shelf storage area, said body including a plurality of recesses adapted to hold a handle and a plurality of interchangeable cleaniNg heads.

11. The combination in accordance with claim 10 wherein said unitary body, generally rectangular in shape, with a planar top surface and the plurality of recesses in the planar top surface in a horizontal position.

12. The combination in accordance with claim 10 wherein said unitary body includes at least one recess in the sidewall constituting a cavity for the retention of floor sweepings and the lower edge of the cavity includes a ramp portion providing an incline surface for entrance of sweepings.

13. The combination in accordance with claim 10 wherein at least one of the recesses in the upper surface is T-shaped and is of sufficient dimensions and depth to hold a cleaning liquid for use with one or more of the interchangeable cleaning heads.

14. The combination in accordance with claim 13 wherein said T-shaped recess includes the body of the T portion presenting a constricted exit for a mop whereby removal of the mop via the constricted portion results in at least a partial wringing of the mop.
