SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 353,863, dated December 7, 1886.

Application filed June 8, 1886. Serial No.204,467. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT J. KAELIN, of Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Flexible Scraper, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming a part thereof, in which- Figure l is a side elevation of a scraper embodying my improvement. Fig. 2 is a section taken on line 00 w in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken on line y g in Fig. 1.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures of the drawings.

My invention relates to improvements in flexible scrapers; and it consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.

To the end of the handle A is secured aconcave board, B, having opposite edges curved or outwardly convex, and to the back of the convex surface of the board B are secured metallic, sockets a, for receiving the braces b, which are held in metallic sockets c, secured to the handle A. By means of this construction the strength of the connections between the braces and the handle and concave board is insured by the metal, while lightness is secured by the employment of wood for the handle, concave board, and braces.

The edges of the rubber sheetO project beyond the edges of the concave board B, so that when the scraper is in use only the rubber will be presented to the floor or other surface being cleaned. By applying the scraper to the floor at the proper angle the entire edge of the rubber sheet G will be brought into contact with the floor, and as the scraper is moved forward its concave form will cause it to retain most of the water which it gathers up, and to carry it forward.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is--- The hereiirdescribed flexible scraper, con sisting of the concave board A, the sheet of rubber, O, secured by bolts (1 to the concave face of the board, the handle A, the sockets (t c, secured to the convex face of the board and handle, respectively, and the braces b, as specified.
