Description

LIGHTER SUPPORT Filed May a, 1968 INVENTOR. R/CARDO Ad/fifg// United States Patent 3,533,035 LIGHTER SUPPORT Ricardo Aguirre Gili, Barcelona, Spain, assignor to Flamagas S.A., Barcelona, Spain, a corporation of Spain Filed May 2, 1968, Ser. No. 727,144 Claims priority, applilcaztighspain, July 9, 1967,
Int. (:1. riolr 7/20 U.S. Cl. 335-285 4 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a lighter support which, due to its special design and organization, can be easily adapted to automobile dashboards for example.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a lighter support, which nonmovably holds the lighter inside the support while a vehicle is moving. Nevertheless the lighter can be removed easily. I
Another object of the invention is to make a lighter support the back part of which has retention means enabling it to be held in place in automobiles, for example, on the interior surface of Windshields, on the dashboards. The retention means might constitute a suction cup. Alternatively, the retention means might include a magnet fitted to the back part of the aforementioned support.
Another object of the invention is to apply on the back part of the aforementioned support a soft pad, for example a layer of sponge or any elastic mesh, with a view to avoiding noises produced by vibration when the vehicle is moving.
Another object of the invention is to provide in the lighter support an opening into which the lighter is inserted. The lighter is held inside the support by any means, preferably by a magnet which adequately holds the lighter and prevents it from jumping or vibrating.
Other objects of the invention will be shown later.
A more complete idea of the invention will be obtained from the following description referring to the accompanying drawings in which,
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the invention showing a fragment of the dashboard on which the lighter support is mounted.
FIG. 2 is an elevated view with a section of the vertical plane of the same part shown in FIG. 1.
In FIG. 2 the lighter support 1 has afiixed to it a securing means like a suction cup 6 or as shown in dashed lines 7, a magnet.
Lighter support 1 is attached to the dashboard or 3,533,035 Patented Oct. 6, 1970 other surface in the vehicle. The lighter 5 is introduced into the support 1 through ample opening 4. Suction cup 6 is secured to the black plate 3 of the support 1. Alternactively, magnet 7 might be used as a substitute for the suction cup. Cushioning 10 can be fitted on the back part of the support to avoid vibration noises while the vehicle is moving.
Lighter 5 can be held in place in the interior of the support by means of a magnet 9 which is placed at the bottom of the opening 4 in support 1. When lighter 5 is not made of metal, a small metal plate 8 can be fitted onto the lighter.
It is easily understood that the lighter so placed is perfectly held inside the support without running the risk of falling out as it is held by the magnet.
It is possible to introduce modifications of detail that circumstances and practice may advise, provided that the variations introduced do not modify the essence of the described object.
I claim:
1. In combination, a lighter and a support therefor, said support having securing means which is secured to its exterior surface for removably attaching said support to another structure:
said support including an opening; said lighter removably fitting into said suport opening; said support opening being defined by interior surounding walls which are contoured substantially to the contour of the exterior of said lighter, whereby said lighter can be securely held within said opening wheninserted therein; said walls being so dimensioned as to permit a sufficient portion of said lighter to extend out of said opening so as to be grasped for removing said lighter from said support;
a magnet located within said opening for attracting said lighter and for holding same in the support until removed from said support; said lighter including a metallic portion for being attracted to said magnet.
2. The combination of claim 1, wherein said securing means comprises a suction cup.
3. The combination of claim 1, wherein said securing means comprises a magnet for being magnetically attracted to another structure.
4. The combination of claim 1, wherein said support includes, on its exterior surface which faces another structure that holds said support, soft pad means for reducing vibration noise in the lighter.
