SHIRT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 353,067, dated November 23, 1886.
Application filed July 2-2, 1886. Serial No. 208,723. (No model.)
- To all whom it may concern;
of which are re-enforced in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 shows the form of the re-enforcing pieces of material.
The body A of the shirt is of the usual construction, and the sleeves B are of the usual construction, except that they are re-enforced at the back with the re-enforcing pieces 0, which reach from the wristbands D up to a point above the elbow. The re enforcing pieces 0 are cut in the form shown in Fig. 2, with the straight end a, the placket-slit b, the side swells or outwardly-curved edges, 0 c, and the two curves at d at the upper end, which form the central or nearly central point, d The straight ends a are stitched in with the wristbands D, and. the placket-slits b correspond with the placket-slits of the sleeves B, and are faced or bound in therewith by the ordinary placket-facing, E. The curved edges of the re-enforcingpieces are then stitched to the body of the sleeves. The object of the curves d d isto give the goods a bias to prevent the re-enforcing pieces from tearing, and to prevent the sleeves from tearing at the points where the upper ends of the re-enforcing pieces are stitched to the body of the sleeves. 2. The shirt-body A, having sleeves B, provided with re-enforcing pieces 0, formed with straight edge a, placket-slitb, and side edges, 0, and cut on the bias at the upper edges, substantially as described.
