UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
NVILLIAM J UN GERMANN OF STAPLETON, NEW YORK.
TOY TRUMPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.350,493, dated October 12, I886.
Application filed January 14, 1886. Serial No. 188,530.
(No model f0 60% whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J 'L'INGERMANN, of Stapleton, in the county of Richmond, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Toy Trumpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved toy trumpet for childrens use; and the invention consists of a toy trumpet composed of a conieal body and a circular plate carrying the reed, said plate being wedged transversely within the body of the trumpet.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 rep resents a side elevation of my improved toy trumpet. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the same; and Fig. 3, avertical trans verse section on line a: 00, Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the conical body of my improved toy trumpet, which body is made of paper or other suitable material, and ornamented in ah y suitable manner. It is provided with a paper or other handle, a, thatis glued or otherwise attached to the body A. Into the body A is inserted,
from the larger end a reed, B, that is forced forward into the body until it is retainedtransversely to the axis of the same, without special fastening devices, by the elasticity of the pa per or other material from which the body is made. The tongue I) of the reed B projects toward the narrow end or mouth-piece of the trumpet, so that on blowing into the small end or mouth-piece the reed is sounded. In this manner a toy trumpet is obtained that can be manufactured cheaply, and that forms a neat musical toy for childrens use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, in a toy trumpet, of a conical body with a circular plate carrying the reed, said plate beingwedged transversely within the body of the trumpet, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
/VILLIAM JUNGERMANN.
