Cl. 13285 6 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A container or kit for storage and treatment of artificial eyelashes in which support members are provided for the eyelashes, the support members being curved both in plan and in section, and a clamping member cooperates with the support members to clamp the eyelashes on the curved support members.

This invention relates to the provision of an artificial eyelash cleaning kit especially adapted and designed for the purpose of cleaning and reshaping false eyelashes.

According to the present invention we provide an artificial eyelash cleaning kit comprising a support shaped to receive artificial eyelash sets for treatment and a ring member to fit over the support so that the eyelash sets are trapped between the support and the ring member for treatment and storage.

The invention also includes an artificial eyelash cleaning kit comprising an upstanding support curved both in plan and in section to receive artificial eyelash sets for treatment, transverse slits in the support into which individual hairs may be brushed and a ring member adapted to be seated upon the support in one or other of two positions a cleaning position or a storage position.

The kit may therefore comprise a specially shaped support to receive the artificial eyelashes for treatment, a ring member to fit over the support so that the eyelashes are trapped between the support and the ring member and a brush to smooth the hairs of the eyelashes when in position on the platform. The ring member is shaped to match or fit the support so that it seats snugly thereon and the ring member preferably has two positions, a first position in which the eyelashes may be treated and a second posi tion in which the eyelashes are retained ready for use. Preferably the ring member and the other parts of the kit are housed within a box or container.

In order that the invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect reference is now directed to the accompanying drawings which illustrate one embodiment of the invention. In the drawing:

In the illustrated embodiment the kit has a more or less rectangular box 1 comprising a bottom 2 and a lid 3 hinged along the long side at 4. A platform 5 is disposed within the bottom 2 of the box 1 and is shaped to provide a substantially circular upstanding support member or abutment 6 into which are cut or otherwise formed small transverse grooves or slits 7 similar to those cut on a fine screw. The purpose of this upstanding support 6 is to provide means whereby the eyelashes under treatment may be arranged along a curve with the base of the eyelashes at the bottom of the inside of the support ring 6. When in this position the hairs can be brushed over in an outward direction and into the fine slits 7 when cleaning which also helps to straighten and reset the hairs. The curved shape of the support also keeps the lash base curved to the natural contours of the eyelids.

Arranged over the top of the upstanding support 6 is a ring or clamping member 8 which in a first position as in FIGURE 1 holds the eyelashes in one way for cleaning and treating the eyelashes by brushing them over the top of the support 6 and into the individual slits 7 and in a second position holds the eyelashes in another Way as in FIGURE 2 to retain the eyelashes in position for storage or travel. The ring member 8 is substantially circular in plan and it has two opposite lower arcuate bars 9 to fit inside the upstanding support 6 and two opposite upper arcuate 'bars 10 to fit on top of the upstanding support. The upstanding support 6 is humped or convex in sectionsee FIGURE 6 and the pair of eyelash sets to be renovated are placed on the support 6 in such a way that they probably take up about half of the circumference. In the first position, see FIGURE 1, the ring member 8 is disposed with the lower bars 9 against the eyelash sets which are opposite to one another. In this position the ring member 8 holds the eyelash sets by means of the bars 9 pressing against them near to their base strand to which the individual eyelashes are secured. In this position the individual hairs can easily be brushed into the slits 7. Then the ring member 8 is lifted up and turned around so that the upper bars 10 are resting along the top of the upstanding support 6 and more or less along the centre of the eyelashes, see FIGURE 2. In this way the support 6 keeps the eyelash sets pressed down into position and eyelashes left in this position would then favourably retain their curl or be recurled in this way.

The ring member 8 also has an upwardly curved handle 11 extending from the centre of one lower or inside bar 9 to the other lower or inside bar 9 and this upwardly curved handle 11 can be gripped between finger and thumb to manipulate the ring member 8. It also presses against the inside of the lid 3 of the box 1 when the lid 3 is closed so that the ring member 8 is positively held in position.

As an example of the use of our kit take the case of eyelash sets which are thickly covered in adhesive, very dirty and have lost their curl. These eyelash sets can be made to look more or less like new by means of a kit in accordance with the present invention. The platform 5 preferably has a central prong 12 to act as a pillar under the handle 11. In operation the eyelash sets are rested upon the upstanding support 6, one on each side with the base of each lash at the bottom of the inner circle and the ring member or retaining device 8 is then placed over the eyelash sets so that its lower bars 9 hold the base of the lashes firmly as in FIGURE 1 while the hairs are brushed over the support into the slits 7. It is possible at this stage to use a jelly or other type of wave set after the eyelashes have been cleaned and after that the method of brushing into the slits 7 can be used again. A suitable cleaning solvent for the lashes is alcohol and this may be used while the lashes are in position on the support. After the lashes have been cleaned and then brushed around the support 6 the ring member 8 which really form a retaining clip is turned around into its other po sition as in FIGURE 2 so that it holds the eyelashes in their brushed around position and keeps them in curl until they are needed again. The top of the handle 11 of the ring member 8 is curved in such a way that when the lid 3 of the box 1 is closed there is a slight pressure on the top of the handle 11 which in turn imparts a 3 slight pressure to the bands holding the lashes in position;

In addition to the above the set comprises a small brush 13 with a curved handle 14 for use in cleaning and brushing the lashes. The lashes may be treated first with solvent or cleaning fluid and then with wave-set. The various parts of the kit may be made of a suitable plastic.

In one preferred construction the substantially circular upstanding support 6 is flattened at 15, 16 on the outside at the top and bottom looking at it in plan, that is to say adjacent to the long sides of the box to provide gaps 17, 18 between the support and the box wall into one of which the handle of the brush may be accommodated.

The platform may have arcuate recesses 19 outside the support 6 and an annular recess 20 inside the support to facilitate correct positioning of the eyelashes.

In this specification we have used the term eyelash set to describe a number of individual eyelash hairs made up into a set to cover a single eye so that a wearer of these artificial eyelashes needs two sets or a pair of sets, one for each eye.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and it will be noted that the curved shape of the support also keeps the lash base curved to the natural contours of the eyelid.

What I claim is:

1. An artificial eyelash cleaning kit comprising a support member curved both in plan and in section to re ceive artificial eyelash sets for treatment and a separate clamping member fitting over the support member so that the eyelash sets are trapped between the support member and the clamping member for treatment and storage, the support member being substantially circular in plan and the clamping member also being substantially circular in plan with oppositely disposed lower arcuate bars to clamp the eyelash sets in position by pressure against the bottom of the inside of the support member and with oppositely disposed upper arcuate bars to hold the eyelash sets in position by pressure against the top of the support member.

2. A kit according to claim 1 wherein the clamping member has an upwardly curved handle.

3. A kit according to claim 1 wherein the clamping member has an upwardly curved handle extending from the centre of the lower arcuate bar to the centre of the other lower arcuate bar.

4. An artificial eyelash cleaning kit comprising a substantially rectangular box provided with a platform disposed within the bottom part of the box, a support member curved both in plan and in section carried by said platform with the transversely convex face of the support member forming its upper surface, said support being adapted to accommodate artificial eyelash sets for treatment on its convex upper surface, said platform having an annular recess inside said plan curvature of the support member, and holding means including a separate clamping member adapted to fit over the support member so that the eyelash sets are trapped between the support member and the clamping member, said clamping member disposable to hold said eyelash sets in two alternate positions, one of the said positions being for treatment, the other of said positions for storage.

An artificial eyelash cleaning kit comprising a base, a support member curved both in plan and in section carried by the base, the sectional curvature of the support member extending convexly above the surface of the base, said support member being adapted to receive artificial eyelash sets for treatment on its convex upper surface, and holding means including a separate clamping member curved in configuration to fit over the support member so that the eyelash sets are trapped between the support memher and the clamping member, said clamping member disposable to hold said eyelash sets in two alternate positions, one of the said positions being for treatment, the other of said positions for storage.

6. An artificial eyelash cleaning kit as claimed in claim 5 wherein said support member is provided with closely spaced transverse grooves into which individual hairs of the eyelash sets may be brushed.
