This invention has for its object to provid a susp ender with improved ends better adapted to withstand wear, and which will yield independently at any particular point, and which may be easily replaced by new ones when unfit for use.

My invention consists, essentially, of a plate having two parallel slotsextending longitudinally therein, and provided with a loop or eye or other device for fastening the said plate to any usual hook supported by or connected to the buckle, combined with two independent end pieces or straps passed through and moving i'reely one in each of the said slits in the plate, the opposite ends of each strap having an eye or slit to engage the buttons or other fastenings employed to attach the Suspender to a waistband.

In accordance with this invention the button or fastening will preferably have a double head-sueh, for instance, as described in my application Serial No. 189,652the shank of the button passing through the waistband, thus presenting a suitable head upon each side thereof, the eyes or slits of the straps being connected with the opposite heads of two such buttons, so that one end of one strap is slipped over the head of one button outside of the waistband, while the opposite end of the said strap is slipped over the head of one adjacent button inside of the waistband, and vice versa.

Figure 1 shows a front view of a suspenderend embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 shows section of a waistband with the buttons and end pieces attached.

It isobvious that the positionof the ends may be reversed, or, if desired, thatjiortion of thestraps leading from one side of/the plate 6 may be attached to one button, and that portion leading from the outside be attached to the adjacent button. The straps f g, sustained as described, are free to move independently to con form to any movement of the body, and one or both straps, if injured or worn so as to be unfit for use, may be easily replaced at trifling expense.

Instead of providing the ends of the straps withbutton-hole slits to pass over the heads of the buttons, any other suitable opening or perforation may be employed, through which the shank of the buttons may pass.

I claim- 1. The plate 6, having two parallel slots, combined with two independent straps passed through and moving freely in said slots, the opposite ends of each strap being provided band and those ends leading from the othei 0 side of the plate bei 11g perforated to be attached to the inside of the waistband all substantially as described.
