HAT, BONNET, AND APPAREL RACK OR STAND.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 346,293, dated July 2'7, 1886.

Application filed December 7, 1885.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JOHN G. LAVAGGI, of Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvanimhaveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Hat, Bonnet, and Apparel Racks or Stands; and I do hereby declare that the following isa full,clear,and exact description of the invention,which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying d awings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.

My invention relates to stands or racks for domestic purposes, such as to receive articles of wearing-apparel, or for use in stores or show-windows for displaying hats, caps, bonnets, coats, suits of cloth, 850.; and it has for its object to furnish a structure of this class which shall be handsome in appearance, have a capacity to receive and hold and display in a conspicuous manner a large number of such articles, and be adapted for use at any time for many purposes. With this object in view I have constructed the device hereinafter fully and accurately described, the specific points of novelty in the structure of which I shall particularly point out in the claim appended to this specification and forming a part hereof.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1' shows in perspective a form in which I construct my improved device, which form'is a stand to rest on the floor, and having a number of hangers or display hooks or pegs of the various forms. Fig. 2 is another form,adapted to be hung against the wall and provided with one complete series of the various hangers, hooks, or pegs. Fig. 3 is a view of the cross pin or bar of the coat-hook. Fig. 4 is a view in side elevation ofo e of the coat-hooks. Fig. 5 is a similar view of the bonnet peg or hook foreshortened by breaking part away in the center, and Fig. 6 is a view of the stem of the coat-hook removed.

Like letters of reference mark the same parts in all the figures.

B is a bonnet peg or hook projecting from the upper portion of the body A, and having a flat head, b, thereon. It has a thread, b, to engage a threaded opening in the body.

0 is a coat-hanger, consisting of a stem, a,

threaded at each end at c c, and a cross-bar, D, which has a threaded central aperture, 0, to receive one of the threaded ends of the stem 0. E is an ordinary hook or peg for a hat or other article, and has a threaded end, 6, to engage a threaded aperture in the body A,and is located below the coat hanger.

In the stand, Fig. 1, I have shown several of the various pegs arranged so as to give a front in various directions to the stand. As many of these may be used as desircd,and ad ditional series may be added.

The device shown in Fig. 2 is adapted to hang against the wall, and is very useful, either in a residence or a store or show-window, to receive and, il'desired, display various articles.

I am aware of English Patent No.2,822 of 1880, which is, for a head-rest, &c., the parts being capable of adjustment, and also of English Patent No. 4,811 of 188i, which is for an adjustable toothed rack having projections for hanging and showing goods, neither of which I claim.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A hat, bonnet, and apparel rack or stand having a fiat-headed bonnet-peg having threaded inner end, a coat-hanger consisting of a stem with both ends threaded, and a cross-bar having threaded aperture, and a plain peg with threaded end, all as set forth.
