SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 343,474, dated June 8, 1886.

This invention relates to a clevis the hook of which is adapted to be adjusted so as to regulate the cut of the plow and cause the same to run deep or shallow, as the nature of the soil or work may require.

On the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a stirrup-shaped metal strap and pin for securing same to the forward end of a plow beam or pole. Fig. 2 is a similar view of a coupling-hook adapted to connect with the aforesaid strap. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section of the clevis as when connected with a plow beam or pole; and Fig. 4 is a view from the inner ends of the strap.

From the above description it will be seen that my invention not only possesses the advantage of a swivel-hook, but that the said hook may be elevated or lowered, as desired, and thus aord means for either a central or an upper or lower pull, as required. The hook is readily changed from the lower to the upper hole, or vice versa, by simply loosening the strap and moving it sufficiently to allow the hook to be slipped inwardly and then upwardly or downwardly, as the case may be.

Vhen all the parts are joined together, the shank and head of the hook is held in either of the countersunk holes by reason of the end of the beam abutting against the same, asis clearly shown in Fig. 3.

When it is desired to pull from the center of the beam, the hook should be turned-inwardly, which will bring its forward portion in proper line, whether the shank thereof bea resting in the upper or lower hole of the strap. For a deep cut the hook should be placed as shown in full lines at Fig. 3, and for a shallow cut as shown in dotted lines in same ligure.

Having described my invention, what 4I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combination, in a clevis, of astirrupshaped strap having its elosedend provided with upper and lower holes and a slit connecting the same, as described, with a hook having a flattened and a rounded portion, whereby it is adapted to be moved in the aforesaid slit or swiveled in either of theholes connected thereby, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2.
