Description
Nov. 12, 1968 w. J. CONLEY BOTTLE STRUCTURE Filed Oct. 24. 1966 .lllldl'll I! United States Patent 3,410,459 BOTTLE STRUCTURE William J. Conley, Brockton, Mass., assignor to Centerchem, Inc., New York, N.Y., a corporation of New York Filed Oct. 24, 1966, Ser. No. 588,991 2 Claims. (Cl. 222-479) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE One object of my invention is to provide an improved bottle stnicture that permits a steady stream of liquid to be poured from the bottle without gurgling or other interference with the free flow of said liquid.
Another object is to provide an integral handle so formed as to also divide a portion of the bottle into the most suitable passageways for flow of air into, and liquid from, the bottle.
Still another object is to so position the handle that it can readily be reached and grasped when the bottle is inconveniently located such as above a person.
A further object is to provide a bottle which makes possible pouring liquid therefrom from either of two passages that are located at opposite sides.
The foregoing and other objects which will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, may be accomplished by a construction, combination and arrangement of parts such as is disclosed by the drawing. The nature of the invention is such as to render it susceptible to various changes and modifications, and therefore, I am not to be limited to the construction disclosed by the drawing, nor to the particular parts described in the specification; but am entitled to all such changes therefrom as fall within the scope of my claims.
In the drawing:
FIG. -1 is a front elevational view of my bottle.
FIG. 2 is a similar view to FIG. 1; but with the bottle at a right angle thereto.
FIG. 3 is a front elevational view of the bottle in pouring position.
FIG. 4 is a top plan view of said bottle.
As illustrated, my container or bottle is formed of 3,410,459 Patented Nov. 12, 1968 ice glass, plastic or other suitable material. It may be of different sizes; but the one-half and one-gallon sizes are especially suitable for many uses. It has a main body 12 which provides a chamber and above it is an open neck or mouth portion 14 having a partition 16 that divides the opening to provide two passages one of which I designate an inlet 18 and the other an outlet 20, although they could .be reversed and said inlet serve as an outlet and said outlet as an inlet.
Directly below said neck 14 a hole 22 extends through said bottle 10 that is centrally located and provides space to receive a persons fingers. Thus the portions of said main body provide an integral handle 24. At opposite sides of said hole 22 are passages 26 and 28 which communicate with and are continuations of passages 18 and 20, and communicate with said chamber 13. These passages 26 and 28 are preferably located an equal distance from said hole 22 and adjacent opposite side extremities of said main body.
In use the bottle may be filled to a point indicated by the dash lines as at .30 in said FIG. 4. When a person grasps it by said handle 24 he may pour the contents through said passages 20 and 28, or through said passages 18 and 26, depending upon how the bottle is tipped. In any event air will enter the main chamber 13 through either the passages 18 and 26, or 20 and 28, to thus insure a steady outward flow of said contents.
What I claim is:
1. Bottle structure having a main body providing a main chamber for liquid and an open neck-communicating with said chamber, a partition centrally located in said neck dividing it into two passages which provide an inlet and outlet, said main body having a hole extending laterally and centrally located between opposite sides of said main body and through an intermediate portion thereof below said neck and having to other passages at opposite sides of said main body which communicate respectively with the first mentioned two passages and with said chamber.
2. Bottle structure as set forth in claim 1, said other passages being spaced substantially an equal distance from said hole and adjacent opposite side extremities of said main body.
