SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 340,575, dated April 27, 1886.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, EDWIN E. HANF, of Wilmington city, State of Delaware, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buttons, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of thereof, in

My invention relates to that class denominated detachable buttons for wearing apparel; and it consists in the peculiar arrangement, construction, and combination of the several parts, as will be fully hereinafter described.

Referring to the drawings, letter A is the round or head part of the button, having a hole punched through its center,and is struck up out of a solid piece of metal; or it may be made of any suitable material.

B is a rivet passing through the hole in the head part, having itself a solid head thereon to prevent it from passing through the headpiece of the button. This rivet B passes through the clamping device underneath the head A, and is riveted thereto by the process of flattening or mashing it down thereon, so.

What I do claim is- The detachable button herein shown and described, having head A, rivet B, clamping device 0, with its tongue'pieces c 0, working loosely or swiveled to the rivet B, so that both the head A and clamping device 0 will re volve thereon, substantially in the manner as and for the purpose set forth.
