JOSEPH F. SHOMATE, OF EL DORADO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND FRANCIS M. PARISH, OF SAME PLACE.
BEER AND WATER COOLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 340,377, dated April 20, 1886.
Application filed July 13, 1885.
T at whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J osEPH F. SHOMATE, of El Dorado, in the county of Saline and State of Illinois, have invented anew and Improved Beer and Vvater Cooler, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved beer and water cooler which is simple in construction, effective in use, and cheap.
The invention consists in the combination, with a frame, of a series of boxes for receiving ice, akeg or other receptacle, and a cooling-cylinder, all as will be fully described and set forth hereinafter.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, in which a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved beer and water cooler is shown.
The frame A, mounted on castersA', is provided in its upper part at the rear with the two boxes 13 and O, the former above the latter, and both having back doors, B and C, respectively. The bottom of the box B consists of theice-rack D for supporting blocks of ice D, and the floor E of the box- 0 has an aperture, E.
In front of and somewhat below the box.C a zinc-lined box, G, is provided, which has a hinged top door, G. In the box G a copper or other cylinder, F, having suitable supports, is placed, and provided with the coupling-pipes J and K, which project from the front and rear through the front and back of the box G. The cylinder F also has a screw-neck, L, on its top, which is opened when the cylinder is to be cleaned. A pipe, M, projects from the top of\ the cylinder F and through the front of the box G, and on its end a faucet, N, is securet. A cock, 0,
for drawing off water, projects from the front of the box G. A faucet, P, is connected with the pipe J, and a tube, Q, is coupled to the rear end of the pipe K, and connects said pipe with a spigot or faucet, R, driven into the bottom of akeg, S, resting on the floor Serial No. 171.507. (No model.)
of the box 0. A drip-pan, T, is supported by a shelf, U, projecting from the front of the frame A at the bottom. 4 The cylinder F is packed in broken ice placed in the box G. The keg S is placed on the floor E, and the faucet or spigot R is driven through the aperture E into the hole in the bottom of the 5 keg. The spigot R is then opened, and the beer flows through the pipes K Q into the cylinder F, and can be drawn from the same, when required, through the faucet P. The beer is cooled thoroughly, as the keg is in a cold chamber, and the beer passes through the cylinder F, surrounded on' all sides by ice. Water can be cooled in the same manner.
Ice-water for use at the bar, &c., can be drawn from the box G through the cock '0.
To clean the cylinder F, the spigot R is closed, the faucet P opened, and water forced into the cylinder through the openingL.
Havingthus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination, with the frame A, of
the box 0 for receivinga barrel, keg, or other receptacle, the box G, the cylinder F in the same, and a pipe for conducting the liquid from the barrel into the cylinder, and'a pipe for drawing the liquid from the cylinder, substantially as herein shown and described. 2. The combination, with the frame A, of the box 0 for receiving a keg or other receptacle, the box G, the cylinder F in the same, a tube connecting the cylinder with the keg, the tube J, projecting from the cylder, and the faucet P, the tube M, projecting from the cylinder, and the cook or faucet N on the front or outer end of the same, substantially as herein shown and described.
3. The combination, with the frame A, of the box 0 for receiving a keg or other receptacle, the box G, the cylinder F in the same, the spigot R, the tubes K Q, connect- I ing the same with the cylinder F, the tube J, projecting from the front of the cylinder, the faucet P, the tube M, projecting from the cylinder, the cock or faucet N on the same, and the faucet or cock 0 for drawing water from the box G, substantially as herein shown box 0, and of a tube and faucet for drawing and described. the liquid from the cylinder F, substantially 4. The combination, with the frame A, of as herein shown and described. the box 0, the ice chamber or box B above JOSEPH F. SHOMATE. 5 it, the box G in front of and below the box Vitnesses:
G, the cylinder F in the box G, tubes for T. L. PARISH, connecting the cylinder F with a keg in the ANDREW J. ETHERTON.
