JOSEPH MERSMAN, OF DELPHOS, OHIO.
HAT-STAN D.
.l-BPEGIFIGATIQN forming part of Letters Patent No. 333,772, dated January 5 1886.
Application filed April 9.1. 1885. Serial No. 162,928. (Modeln To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOSEPH MERsMAN, of Delphos, in the county of Van Wert and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved HatStand, of which the following is a full,
clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved hat-stand which is simple in construction, strong, and durable.
The invention consists in a hat-stand made of wires twisted to form a standard having an arm and a ring at its upper end and legs provided with spring-loops at the lower end.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which a perspective view of my improved hat-stand is shown. 4
The post or upright A is formed ofthree or more wires, B, which are twisted together. One of the wires B is bent rectangularly at the top of the post to form thearm O, on the end of which a circle or ring, D, surrounding the top of thepostis formed. This ring serves to support or hold the hat, bonnet, 850. The
lower end of each wire B is bent outward from the lower end of the post, and is bent at its middleto form a loop-spring, E, from which the wire extends downward, the end of the wire being bent to form an eye or loop, F.
Theloop-springs E assist in preventing the stand from toppling over in case the hat is too heavy, or is not placed upon the ring D properly.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A hat-stand formed of wires twisted together to form a post having an arm on its upper end, on the end of which arm a ring is formed which surrounds the. top of the post, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. A hat-stand consisting ofa post provided at its upper end with a ring and at its lower end with legs having spring-loops, the whole being formed of wire, substantially as herein shown and described.
3. Ahat-stand formed of the wires B, twisted together to form the post A, at the upper end of which an arm, O, is formed, which carries a ring, D, surrounding the top of-the post, and at the lower end of which post three or more wire legs, each having a spring-loop, E, are formed, substantially as herein shown and described.
JOSEPH MERSMAN.
