DEVICE FOR EXHlBlTlNG HOSIERY.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 331,717, dated December 1, 1885.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JOHN A. KEssEL, a citizen of the United States, residing in Buffalo, in the county of Erie and Stateof New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Exhibiting Hosiery or other Light Articles, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to produce a simple and convenient means for exhibiting hosiery, gloves, or other articles; and it consists of one or more hooks connected together and suspended in a swivel, so as to be easily turned around to show the different kinds of goods, &c., in combination with a suspendinghook and a spring clamping device (or a hook) for holding a card or tag for showing the cost, 850., or the price of the articles exhibited, all of which will be fully and clearly hereinafter shown, described, and claimed, by reference to the accompanying drawing, in which a perspective view is shown, a portion being broken away so as to show the swivel partly in section.

The letters a represent the hooks upon which the articles to be exhibited are hung. Ihave shown four of such hooks, but there may be one or more than the number shown. YVhen more than one book is used, they are 0 joined together by solder, or twisted, or put together in any well-known way so as to be well secured, and should be provided with a circular head, a, of the proper size to fit easily in the tube 02 below the head a. a smaller tube, a", is put onto the neck a of the hook. and then inserted into the tube o as shown. It is either soldered, riveted, or otherwise secured in place in the tube a.

The tube a may be put onto the neck a in parts, or it may be put on before the head a" is formed; or, in lieu of the tube, a wire of the proper thickness may be wound spirally I around the neck a, and then the whole put into the tube a and secured in place in any well-known way.

The suspendinghook a (which is adapted to hang upon the horizontal rod or rods usually placed in some convenient part or parts of a store or above the counters) is rigidly fastened to the upper portion of the tube at, either by 0 being made to screw into it or by means of solder. At some convenientpart of the hook a is secured a spring clamping device, 0. I have shown a double coil of spring-wire having one end, 0, fastened to the lower portion of the hook. Between these coils a card, 0 having the price, &-c., on it, is placed.

The books may, if desired, be rigidly secured to the tube a and the swivel placed upon the lower portion of the hook, and the card-holding device may be placed on any other convenient portion of the device, if desired.

I claim as my invention- The combination, in an exhibiting device, 65 of a series of connected hooks for suspending the articles to be displayed, a supportingbook connected to said series of hooks by a swiveljoint, and a coiled-spring clamping card or tag holder secured to the supporting-hook, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
