SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 322,948, dated July 28, 1885.

Be it known that I, SAMUEL IVIELLINGER,
of Mount Pleasant, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horse Hay-Rakes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of theinvention,which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the. same,reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective View of a portion of my improved rake-head and axle. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same.

My invention has relation to horse hayrakes; and it consists in the improved con-v struction and combination of parts of the rake-head, as hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawingsdhe letter A indicates the head, which is made of sheet metal of a suitable thickness, and formed open at the under side, being U-shaped in cross-section. The edges or flanges B of the head are bent together at the ends of the head, forming round tapering ends 0, upon (No model.)
which sleeves D are slipped, which sleeves serve as spindles for the wheels which turn upon them, while the sleeves at the same time serve to hold the flanges together.
