(Cl. 248-243) The invention relates to a shelving bracket adapted to be hooked on a vertical rail with hooking apertures, and the bracket is of the type which at its rear edge has hooking members and which generally has plate form with at least to the one side arranged support means for the end of a shelf the end edge of which bears the side of the bracket.
A bracket of the said type is known which is made of metal sheet. If this known bracket is arranged for projecting upwards in relation to the shelf plane there will be a considerable risk that the bracket sheet when a book is placed adjacent the bracket will engage between the pages the book and damage the book. If the bracket is arranged for projecting downwards in relation to the shelf plane then the books will not be laterally supported, and also with such bracket there will be the risk that the metal sheet will engage between the pages of a book.
It is an object of the invention to provide a bracket which will not engage between the pages of a book.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a bracket which will provide for a neat appearance of the shelving without necessitating very precise manufacture of the shelving parts and accurate mouuting thereof.
The bracket may advantageously along its front edge have a list which is broader than the bracket plate. This list will not engage between the pages of a book and thus will not damage the book.
The list may advantageously comprise a portion so disposed that it conceals the end of the front edge of a shelf supported by the bracket. Hereby there is obtained a neat appearance even if there is an interspace between the shelf and edge and the side of the bracket sheet.
The bracket may advantageously comprise a metal sheet part and at the front edge thereof a metal band which is situated at right angles to the plane of the metal sheet part. Hereby there is obtained a simple and practical structure.
The list may advantageously extend along the upper edge of the bracket. Hereby it is Vobtained that the list can provide lateral support for books. The list may advantageously extend along the under edge of the bracket. Hereby it is obtained that the list can provide lateral support for books on a lower shelf. The bracket may advantageously within the list have an aperture which is sufiiciently great for the insertion of a hand so that the bracket may be used as a handle. Hereby there is obtained a very practical construction where two brackets can be used as handles for carrying a shelf with books thereon. The bracket may advantageously extend as well upwards as downwards in relation to the shelf plane. Hereby it is obtained that the bracket has a great carrying capacity. Furthermore the bracket can provide effective lateral support for books on the shelf and for books on the shelf below that.
Further objectsj advantages and details will appear from the following description taken in conjunction with the drawings in which some embodiments are shown.

In FIGURES 1-4 the numeral 21 designation a generally trapezoid steel part which at its Vertical rear edge has three projecting hooks 22, 23 and 24. Along an inclined upper edge, a Vertical front edge and an inclined under edge of the steel part 21 extends a list which is made of metal band. Edge portions of this band are bent against each other so that the list comprises an outer back portion 25 and two inner portions 26 and 27 which bears against the inner side of the back portion 25 and the edges of which are adjacent to the side in question of the steel sheet part 21. Near the rear edge of the part 21 the upper edge and the under edge of said part is formed with each a flat projection, not shown and the back portion 25 has corresponding longitudinal slots in which the projections are riveted to secure the list. Further fixing of the list 25, 26, 27 is usually not necessary.
In FIGURES 5-7 the numeral 1 designates a horizontal arm and 2 a Vertical arm of an angular sheet part. The vertical arm 2 has on its rear edge projecting hooks 3 and 4 which engages apertures in a Vertical rail 5 that is fixedly attached to a Wall 6. The lower margin portion of the arm 1 is bent laterally and upwards for providing a hooking flap 7. On the opposite side of the arm 1 there is welded a U-Shaped strip 8 which provides a corresponding hooking flap on the other side of the bracket. On these hooking flaps there are hooked vertically down- Wards projecting end portion of steel shelves 9 and 19, respectively. A steel strip or band is formed with a Vertical portion 11 which is welded to the front edge of the arm 1, an inclined portion 12 and a horizontal portion 13 which is welded to the upper edge of the arm 2. The strip 11-13 has rectangular cross section and is positioned with a greater extension of the section at right angles to the plane defined by the arms 1 and 2 and in such a manner that it extends the same amount to either side of said plane. In FIGURE 6 there is indicated a book 14 Standing on the shelf 9 and supported laterally by the side edge of the strip 11-13. The front edge portion 11 extends downwards in front of the joint between the shelves 9 and 10 so that any irregularities here are concealed, and accordingly it will not be necessary to provide for very great precision in the manufacture of the shelving parts and in mounting the rails 5. If the shelving has only two rails 5 then the two brackets at the ends of a shelf can be used as handles for carrying the shelf and the books thereon.
In FIGURE 8 there is shown a bracket which extends upwards as well as downwards in relation to the plane of the shelf. The bracket comprises a sheet metal part out to T-shape with a Vertical portion 15 and a horizontal portion 16. A strip 17 has its ends welded to the upper edge and to the lower edge of the portion 15 and to the front edge of the portion 16. The portion 15 has three hooks at its rear edge. The lower margin of the portion 16 is bent laterally and upwards to provide a hooking flap 19 corresponding to the hooking flap 7. On the opposite side of the portion 16 there may be attached a hooking flap corresponding to the hooking flap 8. The upper portion of the strip 17 can provide lateral support for books on a shelf resting on the hooking flap 19, and the lower poretaoie tion of the strip 17 can provide lateral support for books on a lower shelf.
In FIGURES 9 and 10 there is shown a bracket which substantially corresponds to the bracket in FIGURES 5-7, bnt the hooking tlaps '7 and S are replaced by tongues Zt'i which are defined as U-slots and are bent alternately to the one side of the bracket and to the opposite side.
The embodiments shown and described are to be considered only as examples and Within the scope of the in- Vention many modications are possible. The sheet part il, 2. may be formed so that its front edge and upper edge follows the strip 11 along its entire extension or a substantial portion thereof. Herehy it is obtained that the Welding seam can be longer, and a Very strong bracke can be obtained. The strip 11-13 or 17 may be coated, for instance with thermoplastic material, or the strip may consist of such material.
I claim:
1. A shelving bracket for hooking on a Vertical profile rod with hooking apertures, comprising a sheet metal part which is formed with a plane main portion with Vertical rear edge and hooks projecting from said rear edge, a list which extends along and is fastened to a front edge and an upper edge of the plane main portion and projects to both sides of the main portion, said list being between a place where it is fastened to a front edge of the main portion and a place where it is fastened to an upper edge of the main portion extends at a distance from the edge of the main portion so that the list and the edge portion in question define an aperture.
2. A bracket as claimed in claim 1, in which the list consists of a band disposed with its transverse direction being at right angles to the plane of the main portion.
3. A bracket as clairned in claim 1, in which the list extends along and is fastened to a lower edge of the main portion.v
4. A bracket as claimed in claim El, in which the list consists of a metal band, longitudinally marginal portions thereof extending inwar-:liy from the edges of the list and along the length of said metal band and being bent inwardly so that the edge portions along the length of said list are situated adjacent a side of the edges of the main portion.
5. A shelving bracket for hooking on a Vertical profile rod with hooliing apertures, comprising a sheet metal part which is formed with a plane main portion with Vertical rear edge and hooks projecting from said rear edge, a list which extends along and is fastened to a front edge and an upper edge of the plane main portion and projects to both sides of the main portion, said list extending along and is fastened to an under edge of the main portion, and in which the list being between a place where it is fastened to a front edge of the main portion and a place where it is fastened to an under edge of the main portion extends at a distance from the edge of the main portion so that the list and the edge portion in question define an aperture.

Claims (1)
1. A SHELVING BRACKET FOR HOOKING ON A VERTICAL PROFILE ROD WITH HOOKING APERTURES, COMPRISING A SHEET METAL PART WHICH IS FORMED WITH A PLANE MAIN PORTION WITH VERTICAL REAR EDGE AND HOOKS PROJECTING FROM SAID REAR EDGE, A LIST WHICH EXTENDS ALONG AND IS FASTENED TO A FRONT EDGE AND AN UPPER EDGE OF THE PLANE MAIN PORTION AND PROJECTS TO BOTH SIDES OF THE MAIN PORTION, SAID LIST BEING BETWEEN A PLACE WHERE IT IS FASTENED TO A FRONT EDGE OF THE MAIN PORTION AND A PLACE WHERE IT IS FASTENED TO AN UPPER EDGE OF THE MAIN PORTION EXTENDS AT A DISTANCE FROM THE EDGE OF THE MAIN PORTION SO THAT THE LIST AND THE EDGE PORTION IN QUESTION DEFINE AN APERTURE.
