TOY SHOWER Filed Aug. 12, 1963 INVENTORS. 3AA M47021? f? cud/Z24 figs 152T .5. AA/Z/M0/V" United States Patent Ofi 3,1 78,l l6 Patented Apr. 13, 1Q65 [ice This invention relates generally to toys, and is especially concerned with a unique toy-shower construction.
During hot summer weather, as cially in large cities, it is conventional for cooling play in the water.
usage; and moreover, which is capable of private employment, say in ones back yard.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a toy shower of the type described which is highly attractive in appearance, light in weight, and entirely safe for use even by small children.
Still another object of the reliable throughout a long useful life, economically manufactured for sale at a reasonable price.
Other objects of the present invention will become apparent upon reading the following specification and referring to the accompanying drawings, which form a material part of this disclosure.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangements of parts, which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope will be indicated by the appended claims.
In the drawings:
FIGURE 1 is an elevational View construction of the tion of use;
FIGURE 2 is an elevational view taken at right angles to the view of FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a partial sectional elevational view taken generally along the line 33 of FIGURE 2; and
a horizontal sectional View taken generally along the line 44 of FIGURE 2.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the toy shower of the instant invention is there generally designated 10, and includes a pedestal 11 adapted to seat on a ground surface 12.
The pedestal 11 may be advantageously integrally fabricated of plastic, say by blow-molding or other suitable procedure, and configured and decorated to accurately simulate the external appearance of a conventional fire hydrant.
More particularly, the pedestal 11 may include an upright hollow column 14 having at its lower end a generally peripheral flange 15 adapted to seat on the ground 12. The upper end of the domed closure 16 bounded by a peripheral bead or flange 17 and carrying an upstanding lug 13, all in simulation of a fire hydrant.
showing a toy-shower present invention in operative condiintegral with the flange 15, or separate and inserted therethrough for impaling in the ground 12 to firmly hold the :olumn 11 in its upstanding condition against reactive water forces and other incidents of use.
integrally or separate from the column 14 and suitably fixed to the latter. Provided on one end of the tube sure or cap. The upper side of the spray head 23 is advantageously formed with one or more discharge openings, such as arcuate slot 24. In use, the column 14 stream as a water shower.
From the foregoing, it is seen that the present invention provides a toy shower which fully accomplishes its tended objects and is Well adapted to meet practical conditions of manufacture and use.
Although the present invention has been described in some detail by way of illustration and example for purposes of clarity of understanding, it is understood that certain changes and modifications may be made within the spirit of the invention and scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
l. A toy shower comprising an upstanding hollow column externally configured to configured to simulate a fire-hydrant closure, and fluidconduit means extending transversely through said column in fluid communication between said nipple and spray said fluid-conduit in spaced relation generally cylindrical upground-impaling means on one end of said column for retaining the latter in upstanding condition, a conduit of smaller diameter than said column extending diametrically therethrough intermediate the ternally of said column, said spray head comprising a hollow body having a discharge opening in its upper side.
