Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 31,755, dated March 19, 1.861; Ressued October 11,

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HORACE` TUPPER, of l Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Money-Boxes for Omnibuses and Railroad-Cars, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in constructing and arranging the several parts of this box in the manner hereinafter set forth.

In the annexed drawings Figures l and 2 are vertical cross sections. Fig. 3 is a side elevation.

In the drawings A, represents the box, which is provided with a top B. The top B, is provided with three openings C, C, and C', which lead into the box.

D, D, represent two converging sides of a hopper, constructed as seen in Figs. 1 and 2, with an opening in its bottomV which leads to a wheel E. The wheel E, is composed of a. series of wings secured around a common axle-said wheel having its heads in an octagonal or other suitable shape. The wings of the wheel are made of glass or any transparent material. K, K, represent two windows in the sides of the box through which the wheel E, may be seen. F, F, represent the converging sides of another hopper under the wheel E, with an opening between them which leads into the drawer G, in the bottom of the box.

l/Vhen money is dropped into the box through openings C, C, it passes down the converging sides D, D, and falls between the wings of wheel E,-where it may be seen through the windows K, K,the driver then revolves the wheel E, by means of knob I, and the money passing around falls down The change to be returned to passengers will be dropped through the opening C',

and falling upon the bottom of the box L, it-

may be removed through the door J.

One of the great advantages of this box is that change may be so readily seen through the windows and through the partitions of the wheel E.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent isl l. Constructing the upper portion of the box A, with openings C, C, C', with inclined sides D D, windows K, K, and revolving transparent partitioned wheel E., arranged as and for the purpose specified.

2. In combination with the partitioned wheel E, the drawer Gr, the same being used substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
