UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAXO 'WILHELM AUGUST VVIEGELL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BUCKET OR RECEPTACLE FOR MALT LIQUORS.
EFEGIFICATIQN forming part of Letters Patent No. 315,198, dated April 7, 1885.
(No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAXO WILHELM AUGUST \VIEGELL, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Bucket or Receptacle for Malt Liquors, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a bucket or receptacle for small quantities of malt liquors; and the invention consists of the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a plan View of my invention, the sliding cover being shown open. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the same; and Fig. 3 is a plan View of the bucket, showing a modified form of cover for closing the openings.
The body of the bucket or receptacle A may be made of any suitable size, and of sheet metal or of any other suitable material. In the top a, near one edge of'the bucket, is formed the large opening B, through which the spigot of a beer or other keg or barrel may be inserted for filling the bucket with beer, ale, or other liquor directly from the keg or barrel, and near the opening B are formed, through the top a, the series of small holes I), through which the liquor contained in the bucket may be poured out of the bucket without pouring out any froth that may be in the bucket.
In the form of bucket shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the top a is provided with the concentric flanges c c, which hold the sliding segmental cover 0, which is adapted to open and close the holes B b. In the form shown in Fig. 3, in place of a segmental sliding cover held by flanges, I employ the pivoted cover D, for closing the openings B b. In the center of the top a, I secure the ring or handle E, by which the bucket may be carried.
Constructed as described the bucket or receptacle may be filled through the large opening B, and the cover closed over the openings B b, so that the strength and life of the liquor cannot escape, and by partially opening the cover so as to open the small holes 6 the liquor may be poured out for use without permitting the froth to escape and without materially exposing the liquor to the air.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. As a new article of manufacture, a bucket or receptacle having a top, a, provided with a large opening, B, and small openings 1), and a movable cover constructed to close said large and small openings, substantially as described. 2. The bucket or receptacle A, formed with the large opening B andseries of small openings b, and provided with the flanges 0 0 and sliding cover 0, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
SAXO WILHELH AUGUST WIEGELL.
