To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, SEBASTIAN M. ADKINs, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Key-Buckles, which in1- provenient is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved key-buckle. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the buckle detached. Fig. 3 shows a perspective View of the buckle as secured in position; Fig. 4, a perspective view of the strap-adjusting plate, and Fig. 5 a perspective View of a modified form of buckle.

The present invention relates to an improvement in buckles; and it consists of a metallic plate having near the ends lateral wings for passing through and clinching on the opposite side of the straps. The ends have rectangular links, over which the slots of the adjusting-plate are passed, and secured in position by passing the tongue of the strap through the link, all of which will now be fully set forth in detail.

In the drawings, A is a section of straps, upon the face of which I provide a connector, B, having near each end lateral wings O, slightly triangular in form. These are de signed to pass through the leather strap A, and clinched on the opposite side. Each end of this connector B is provided with rectangular links or loops D, secured thereto by having the end of the piece 13 passed around one of the cross-bars in the form of a tube, 0. I design to stamp or press this piece out of a single piece of metal, with the central part provided with a rectangular raised part, E, formed with corrugations or ribs for strengthening the same. A metallic plate, F, is provided at one end with two or more transverse slots, G, sufficiently large to receive the link D. The opposite end is provided with a wing which is turned downwardly, forming a hook, H, and inwardly from this hook a transverse slot, I, is placed. If preferable, this end of the piece as far as the middle may be formed narrower than the other. A section, J, of a leather strap has a tongue, K, stitched or secured thereto in any suitable manner. The

transverse slot I of the adjusting-plate F receives the end of the tongue, and the hook H is secured through an opening in the tongue. In this position the hook H is slightly clinched on the leather strap. The link D is turned up vertically, and one of the slots G is placed over it. The end of the tongue K, opposite to the one to which the adjustable plate is attached, is then inserted through the link D on the outside of the adjusting-plate F. As de sired, two or more slots, G, may be provided in the adjusting-plate, and as more or less length of strap is desired the hook H may be secured either forward or backward in the strap.

Fig. 5 shows a method of forming the buckle where only the link at one end of the connector is desired. In this case I simply use the end of the connector B provided with the link and lateral wings by simply cli ping off the part with a shears at its connec ion with the corrugated part, as shown in the figure.

What I claim is- 1. A key-buckle consisting of the metallic plate B, having wings O laterally near each end, and rectangular links D, secured on the ends by means of tubes 0, the central part formed with rectangular corrugations or ribs E, as and for the purpose substantially as herein set forth.

2. In a key-buckle, the adjusting-plate F, provided at one end with transverse slots G, the opposite end provided with a hook, H, and inwardly a transverse slot, I, combined with the strap A, connector 13, strap J, and tongue K, as and for the purpose substantially as herein set forth.

3. The combination, in a key-buckle, of the adj usti'ng-plate, one end having transverse slots, the opposite end having a hook and inwardly a transverse slot, and the connector having links for receiving adjustable plate hinged on the ends and wings laterally, the central part formed with corrugations, with the strap secured thereto, herein set forth.
