No. 179,705 2 Claims. (Cl. 36-72) This invention relates to shoes and more particularly to an attachment to the heels of shoes for men who drive automobiles.

It has long been a silent observation of both men and women that the heels of shoes of men who do very much driving of automobiles soon become scuffed from their constant moving contact with the floor mat and/ or seat support of the car no matter how careful to avoid this the person may be.

It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a shoe protector that can quickly and easily be placed on the heel of a shoe to protect the same from the above described scuffing.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector that can quickly and easily be removed from the heel of a shoe when it is not needed for some time.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector that is adaptable to either the right or left shoe.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector that can be adapted to any style of mens shoe.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector that can be manufactured for women as well as mens shoes.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector that can be mass produced by any shoe manufaoturer at a retail price well within the reach of everyone.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector. that will give additional life to the shoe without the necessity of having the heels refinished.

Another object of this invention is to provide a shoe pnotector that not distract from the looks of the shoe.

Still another object of this invention is to provide a shoe protector that is next to indestructible.

The foregoing and other objects and advantages of the present invention will appear from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:

FIGURE 1 is a pictorial view of this invention.

'FIGURE 2 is a side view of this invention attached to the heel of a mans shoe.

Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views of the drawing.

Having reference now to the drawing in detail, there is generally indicated by the character 5 a shoe protector having a configuration of .the capital letter U when viewed from the top or bottom and a side view configuration somewhat resembling a right triangle.

The said shoe protector 5 embodies a body 6 made of soft leather having a rounded upper edge 7 and a lower Patented July 2, 1963 edge terminating in a steel U-shaped clamp spring 8. A steel wire 9 is sewed between the pieces of leather that go to make up this novel invention. The steel wire 9 is illustrated by dash lines in the two views of the appended drawing since it is in the interior portion of this invention which of course can be manufactured in any size and color desired. The aforesaid steel wire 9 is adapted to both the upper and lower edges of the shoe protector which is contoured to adaptation to the typical shoe worn by men and women (if designed for womens shoes).

FIGURE 2 of the appended drawing clearly shows the way in which this novel invention is snapped onto the heel 10 of a shoe I l, and therefore nothing more need be said about its use which is naturally obvious to everyone who may look at the same.

From the foregoing it will now be seen that there is herein provided a shoe protector which accomplishes all of the objects of this invention, and others, including many advantages of great practical utility and commercial importance.

It is under-stood that suitable modifications may be made in the structure as disclosed, provided such modifications come within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Having now, therefore, fully illustrated and described my invention, what I now claim to be new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

1. A shoe protector comprising a soft leather body, having the configuration of a letter U when viewed from the top which terminates in a rounded edge, the said body extending below the sole of the shoe on which it is placed, and a steel wire embedded within the said soft leather body, the said wire being located parallel and near the edge of the said soft leather body, having its lower edge terminating in a steel U-shaped clamp spring adapted to encompass in part the heel of the shoe on which the said shoe protector is placed.

2. A shoe protector comprising a sofit leather body, having the configuration of a letter U when viewed from the top or bottom, the upper end of the said soft leather body terminating in a round edge, and the lower edge of the same body terminating at, and secured to, a steel U- shaped clamp spring adapted to encompass in part the heel of a shoe on which the said shoe protector is placed, and a steel spring embedded within the said soft leather body, the said steel wire being located parallel to, and near the upper edge of the said soft leather body, and extending to the front end of the said shoe protector and then curving downward and parallel to the upper edge of the said U-shaped clamp spring.

Claims (1)

1. A SHOE PROTECTOR COMPRISING A SOFT LEATHER BODY, HAVING THE CONFIGUARATION OF A LETTER U WHEN VIEWED FROM THE TOP WHICH TERMINATES ROUNDED EDGE, THE SAID BODY EXTENDING BELOW THE SOLE OF THE SHOE ON WHICH IT IS PLACED AND A STEEL WIRE EMBEDDED WITHIN TH E SAID SOFT LEATHER BODY, THE SAID WIRE BEING LOCATED PARALLEL AND NEAR THE
